Forgot 88XJ is a 4.0 & auto trans

Just purchased a 88XJ unit has front dana 30 axle but no tcase. Previous owner says it was removed (blew up) shop replaced with longer rear dshaft & removed tcase & front shaft. Says it all could be put back 2wd 4wd trans are same except adaptor & output shaft (says trans was never removed...
