    Larger tires but no lift?

I just put on a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers 31x10.5 on 51x7 factory rims. I LOVE THESE TIRES! Got them out on the road as it started raining. They were fantastic in the wet stuff, it's like they were glued to the road. I assume due to the deep lugs and wide traed pattern that the displace water...

    S.Y.E. question

i cant get ofoto to work right...help With a SYE you will need a CV style drive shaft. The SYE makes the output fixed, therefore no movement is allowed. You put a standard shaft on it and it will rip at the Ujoints or the SYE. The CV is like the front DS, it allows travel.

    CV Boot

You should seriously consider this swap: http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/axle/weak_link/ Why just fix it, when you can make the front end stronger!

    Starting Problems on 1996 XJ

With the stereo and everything turned off, put the key into the forward ON potion but not cranked. You should hear a moderately loud HUM noise from the rear. After you have tried to crank it over a few times, CAREFULLY press the shrader valve on the fuel rail and a you should get a good amount...

    Drivetrain movement?

Axle wrap is more common in high horse power applications, SOA conversions, and leafs with large lift blocks. A stock XJ should have no problem with axle wrap. No harm no foul, axle wrap does happen, just not that often with stocker XJ's. Throw some 4" lift blocks on the same XJ, and you...

    XJ slip Yoke question

Sounds like a VERY complete kit. With those two things added, I think you be in good shape.

I just wanted to share a simple mod...

Yeah, that is a interesting mod. This guy has a write up on his site about it as well as quite a bit of other simple mods: http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAutoShifter.htm

    Cherokee front rear 96

bolt patterns The D30 you have is not a CAD (center axle disconnect, ie vacuum actuated front disconnect) axle. Therefore the axle shafts will trun with the hubs even in 2wd. The "locking" mechanism is mecahnical and is done in the TC case itself. Put the axle on jack stands and try to turn...

    XJ slip Yoke question

The 96+ XJ's had the sealed slip yokes. I don't believe that they are all that much longer, if not any longer at all. The main difference is that if you pulled the yoke out of a 95 or older TC the fluid will run out. The newer ones do not have that issue. They are sealed at the output shaft...

    2000 Cehrokee Sport 4WD

TORX Have him check the TC linkage. The XJ's stopped using the vacuum CAD back in 91-92. So more than likely it's the linkage.

    Rear suspension levelling/stability??

If you wish to stay at the same height and just beef up the towing capacity or get rid of the rear sag, Hellwig makes a 550 helper spring that will do teh trick. Summit racing sells them for about $45. http://www.hellwigproducts.com/helpersprings/medium_jeep.html...

    Tow hooks

Custom 4x4 Frabirication has a SWEET deal on the front tow hooks: http://custom4x4fabrication.com/recovery.html These guys have a great rep, and I believe are even cheaper than Rusty's.

    Drivetrain movement?

The 96 plus Command trac TC has a sealed slip yoke. This slip yoke is lubed from the fatory. If the lube is getting nasty or dried up it may be what is causing the thump. You can get some Silver anti-sieze, drop the DS and take the yoke out. Clean and lube the output shaft and put the yoke...

    Noisy Lift

If the noise is the loadest when cold, it more than likely is the Daystar skle bushings. I installed these on my wife's 01 and had a constant squeaking as the body moved. I took them off, slid the boshing end out and roughed up all the smooth surfaces that make conatct with the shakle housing...

    Cherokee Brake lock-up

1043595 Get in there and clean the rear drums up. If it working after you use it for a little, there might be some crap built up in there. Did you change out the rear wheel cylinders? That might be the next thing to look at if they continue to bind up.[addsig]
