Thanks bounty i have a metal tag on the rear pumpkin but i cant make out what the ratio is it just has a bunch of numbers that dont make sense to me the first three digits are like 550 or something like that

I have bought a yj so i need to sell my project cj5 it is in good shape runs awsome i put a new master cylinder on it but have not bleed the brakes yet it is all together 2000 will take it home email me at rsz28@sbcglobal.net

how do i find out what ring & pinion gear ratio is in my jeep have the 4.O is there a place i can go to decode the metal tag on the firewall pretty sure i have the ax-15 trans not sure about the transfer case just bought it and i love it so far any help thanks much :-)
