My first 4wd was a 1961 International Scout II. That was back in 1985, or so. That lasted a few years before I sold it. I didn't have another 4wd until 1993. I bought a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ, 4.0, 5-speed manual, in September of that year. I did a couple of mods through the years - nothing too extreme. It was my daily driver for many years. On the trail, it was like an extension of myself. Of course, there were places it probably couldn't take me, but it took me every place I wanted to go. Every place. The right line and a guy that knows his Jeep can do a whole lot on the trail. I eventually gave the Jeep to my oldest son in 2001. It's still in the garage today (2015). When I turned over the keys to my son, I bought myself the Jeep that I drive today - well, when it's running - a 1979 Jeep CJ 7. This beast is built - upgraded axles, Detroit Lockers, big lift, big tires, custom roll cage, winch, etc. It's everything i ever wanted in a Jeep, except it has been a nightmare to keep on the road. It has over-heating problems, low oil pressure problems, not running right/fuel injection problems. I've had to replace the bearings on both of my rear axle shafts. The driver's side axle was a serious problem. Eventually, that axle shaft broke on the trail. It's been one thing after another with the Big Red Jeep. Meanwhile, I picked up a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee that will eventually be turned over to my youngest son. It's a pretty nice rig - well taken care of. It has a heater blower fan problem, which has led me to this forum. I'll get it taken care of soon enough.
