69jeepcj.... My 2001, 4.0L, NV3550, 5 speed Trans, Jeep TJ does have a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug about half way up on the side of the trans. It needs a 5/8" male socket to open/ seal each plug.... Dave R.

Thanks, Terry, and JPNinPA, and to all who helped... The verdict is in - I have a 2001, 5 speed manual, 4.0L Wrangler TJ which has a NV3550 manual transmission (years 2000-2004)..... It took just a tad bit over two quarts.... Thanks, again. BTW - 2001 seems to be a weird year for jeep...

Thanks, JPNinPA.... 2.4 quarts is all? Is that carved in stone? I have to purchase the royal Purple Maual trans fluid online and I don't want to under buy. Do you think we should wait for others to weigh in? Let me know and thanks again for taking the time to answer my question. Dave R.
