258 straight 6

my 76 cj5 had a bad " go go gadget smoke screen , so i pulled the motor to replace bearings , rings and have head rebuilt, opened it up and DAAAAANNNNGGG! head looks ok to rebuild, but lower end needs alot of machine work, i need a short block bad, any one have a 258 straight 6 layin around...

p.s i had a dodge pickup that ran pretty good and when it was warmed up and i pulled up to a stop light and stopped the tach would jump all over the place the engine would barely run and then die. and it was the rear wheel speed sensor.i had a 1999 dodge so i dont know if yours is new enough to...

would it even run 180 out. in my experiences 180 out would just be some really good backfires. it sounds like the firing order might be off(2 cylinders are switched)

than you . ive been working on this all weekend.. disc brakes in the front,, and installing power steering. im almost done thanks for the advice about the m/c.i bled the brakes tonight, the pedal feels great but i havent driven it yet.. thanks again guys

i beleive its a narrow trac dana 30 it has the stock disc's , callipers, etc. hooking the brake lines up and the existing master cylinder are also issues i dont know about,

so if i go with a dana 30 with disc brakes , that should just be an unbolt bolt in from my dana 30 with drum brakes 76 cj5 6 cyl. 4 speed

i guess you guys need to know that its a 76 cj5 straight 6 i mostly drive around town, a little on the freeway and for hunting. i want safe and reliable

i have 4 wheel drum brakes and i am wanting to just bolt on a newer dana 30 with disc brakes. is it pretty much that easy. has anybody done this that can help with some heads up things to look for or look out for
