Transfer case leakin while Jeep is in motion

Thanks Bounty Hunter, I will give it a whirl and see if I can find the leak using your suggestion. I wonder, is there that big of a difference between a seal from the dealer and A-zone?

Transfer case leakin while Jeep is in motion

I thank all of you guys for the input. The leak is at the rear seal, purchased 2 seals from NAPA, 1st was OEM as far as I know. I have noticed ATF used in many applications now including my Nissan work PU. I just remember my older Jeeps using heavier gearoil in the trans and t-case. They...

Transfer case leakin while Jeep is in motion

The only place I see a leak is the seal. I checked all over the t-case, but found no other leaks. The oil on the outside is ATF so cannot be the trans which has 80/90w gear oil. Anyone know why they went to ATF in the t-case?

'01 2.5L TJ hesitates/bucks at 2000RPM, running out of things to replace

Well tried everything, had wife drive the TJ while I monitored the code reader, still got a P0320 distributor / speed control/ cps. So I pulled the sensor and found some of the wires were cracked in two right where it plugs into wiring loom. Replaced the sensor and it runs better than it...

Transfer case leakin while Jeep is in motion

I am on my third seal installed properly and still leaking. I checked the shaft surface for grooves and made sure it was the right seal, but still losing fluid all over that rear of the TJ. I am stumped.

'01 2.5L TJ hesitates/bucks at 2000RPM, running out of things to replace

Thanks for the info cmmartin86, I will try that tomorrow. I found some more information on testing the sensors with a volt/ohm meter on JeepForum.com also. Hope to get this solved soon.

'01 2.5L TJ hesitates/bucks at 2000RPM, running out of things to replace

Well when it first did this hesitation thing, the " Check Engine Light "came on. I borrowed a code reader and it said intermittent signal from the CPS. So I checked it and it was loose, I tightened the bolts. If I remember right, if the sensor isn't working, the Jeep will not start. I...

'01 2.5L TJ hesitates/bucks at 2000RPM, running out of things to replace

Thats strange, I know I sent a response last night, but don't see it. I changed the trans from the auto that took a crap to a 5spd, found the whole set-up on CL for a couple of bills complete with the ECU, flywheel, pedals master and slave, etc. I didn't know about the CPS and had to...

'01 2.5L TJ hesitates/bucks at 2000RPM, running out of things to replace

I have the same problem. Ours is a 97 TJ with the 2.5 and 5spd, otherwise stock. Ran fine until about 2-3 weeks ago. Check engine came on said " intermittent CPS or C something, said it was either the crank sensor or the cam sensor which is in the distributor I believe. I remember...

    transfer case and transmission

That is the best information I have heard in years. Go at your own speed and it will come to you. There is a wealth of good experience and knowledge here at Jeepz.com. I have heard people from the school of hard knocks and wasted money/effort getting ahead of themselves. I pay attention to...

    a/c fan stops when accelerating

Sorry took so long to get back, have been busy. Replaced the vacuum line from the intake on and checked the control lines under the dash. Under dash looks good, but have not found the 1 way valve. It seems to affect the defrost more than the others only on acceleration. I will keep...

    a/c fan stops when accelerating

Have a 97 Wrangler, a/c fan always stops when I accelerate, like the old vacuum wipers did on the old cars. Anyone have this issue? Is there anyway to cure it? I did look for vacuum hoses and unkinked one by the throttle body, but it still stops on acceleration.

PLEASE HELP! Will a Trektop work with full steel doors?

not meaning to stray, but I noticed when looking for upper sliders for 2 piece doors, the Bestop Denim for TJ says in small print that they will not fit a hardtop. Anyone know about this, I thought they were the same hard or soft?

    np231 tcase leaking

OK, thanks to both of you, Bounty Hunter & SteelHeadz. The seal does ride on the shaft directly, and I was extremely careful not to nick or punture the new seal ( which was a pain to find since the one I needed was for the later Cherokee/Wrangler ) the book # for the 97 gives you a smaller...
