sounds similar to problem i had as far as gages going nuts and rpms not right--turned out to be the sensor on the transmission output--cant think of the correct name at this time --however about 50 bucks at the auto store got everything right again --good luck

replaced belt and both hoses while i was doing my water pump --the tensioner is the p/s pump and moved pretty easily after i took out the air box--the only problem was the belt routing and trying to fit the fan and shroud both in at the same time-thanks to all

finally was able to get under the jeep to check the u-joints-everything seems pretty tight--no play that i can find--the transmission bolt is frozen in position so i dont think that would be the cause of this new problem--jester had mentioned a miss and now when i rev the engine in park i notice...

i don't think its damaged as much as worn out --if i put the pin thru the grommet it can pop right out with out any force --maybe there should be a clip on the backside--thanks
