Why not do a sring-over axle conversion, then you could run 40's

I'll have a look at my 360 tomorrow, and snap some shots with the digital, I don't think I have any shots of it on the comp right now

My 81 CJ 7 has a 15 gallon tank.

My jeep is my summer toy only, so mostly trail, although it nice to show off the mud in town occasionally. I want her to be able to climb over the boulders on our mountain trails, so the bigger the tires I can eventually run the better !

How easy would it be to swap a v-8 (say a chev 350) into a 91' YJ that has the 2.5L ??

well, now that I have for info on lockers and spools that our public library, who can suggest what vehicle i can scrounge some D44's from that would be too much of a hassle to install.....I read that a 72-73 Jeep commando had a D44 thats a direct swap in a narrow track CJ7 (like mine ^ ^), but...

One run up the trails where I go wheeling and all that fancy paint would get scraped off !

Wow thanks for all the info everyone !! to answer Twistedcopper's questions here goes : I'm driving an 81 CJ7 with an 5.9litre V-8(the old AMC360). Dana30 up front with manual locking hubs , AMC20 rear with the trac-lok limited slip. She's got a 4"lift with 33"x12.5 Hankooks. T-176...
