OK. I did it. Just took a screwdriver and went in to pop the cap from the top. Still chewed up the original a little , but not bad. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks mud4feet. You weren't too late. I just wanted to know how to remove the original before I bought a new one. Just ordered one last night. I'll let you know how it goes.

OK - I just got info from another source that the cap on the top does pop off and there is a nut inside that must be removed (just like one of the other suggestions on this thread). I'll give that a shot.
