Oh my fault, I just understood what you were all saying about a bad fuel mixture.....any possibility I'm running too rich now??? how would i determine this, by smell?
First off, thanks for all of your guys' help.....I have now replaced all 6 fuel injectors. Damn costly process for these stupid little things ($70/injector). Haven't had the problem since.
It did look sweet, but obviously just NOT RIGHT! Doesn't appear that there's been any sort of collateral...
haha, slicker than snot...i like how you give your examples that visual touch.... anyhow, i didn't clarify my XJ:
1988 Cherokee XJ
4.0L 242
AW-4 Transmission, don't know if that matters
I'd really like to get a cluster with the Tach built in so it doesn't look like I'm trying to turn a Jeep...
Thanks, That'd be one half of the upgrade if i could get ahold of one of those. It probably wouldn't be good to install a high-pro coil without also installing a larger distributer cap first.
Im wondering if anyone knows where I might find a larger dist cap and cap adapter that will fit the 242...

The other day, driving home, I noticed and burning gas smell. I knew 4 out of my 6 fuel injectors had been previously replaced throughout the jeeps lifetime. Which has been quite some time, so I checked those and sure enough the two originals were leaking around where the O-Rings are positioned...
Hey, thanks alot man. I was hoping that I would be able to get one for cheap and that it would fix the problem.
Would it be difficult to install?
Thanks.
I accidentally ordered a TFI upgrade for a 258 4.2L Jeep engine and was dissapointed to find that one does not seem to exist for a Cherokee (XJ) with the 242 4.0L I-6. The kit I ordered was the Juicebox (http://www.driveajeep.com/html/the__juicebox_.html). If there is anything remotely close to...
A few weeks ago, I bought one of those reverse-glow gauge kits to make the dash lights match my Panasonic touch screen...sounded good in theory but has caused me some trouble and proved to be not worth it at all.
It said that it wasn't necessary to remove the needles...but the new dash inserts...
