How bad did I screw up my YJ?

I've always been told to put the x-fer case in neutral and leave the transmission in 5th gear for lubrication. 5th gear in case the x-fer case slips out of neutral it will put less stress on the drivetrain as a whole. Where was the smoke coming from? Dragging the tires or was it turning the...

    The Pets Thread

XT: that's a beautiful rott. My fiance's grandmother used to breed them and my fiance really wants to get one again. They're pretty hard to find around here. Bobcat: I'm not a cat person at all but that picture of the monkey holding Gus belongs on a calender. JPS: I see your 8 pounds of fury...

    The Pets Thread

I wanna see some pets! Here's my boy Slick. He's a 10 month old purebred australian cattle dog. Absolutely the best dog I've ever come into contact with much less been able to call my own. Right now he's curled up on my feet. Some of my favorite pictures of Slick.

    lockers for YJ

Are you looking for automatic lockers or selectable? Front, rear, or both? Is the jeep street driven or just a toy? Your best bet on automatic lockers are Aussies. That's what I chose to put in the front of my daily driven yj. Very good lockers and the install was very easy.

    help with towing...

Like crazy4diesels said, i'd check on the rv forums. They have towing figured out. I've pulled my old jeep behind the rv a few times but we always used a dolly. I've done both, transmission in gear xfer case in neutral and pulled the rear shaft. As easy as it is I always preferred to pull it for...

    Four wheel drive!!

Sounds like the collar the shift fork moves isn't fully engaging. Pull the cover to the CAD cover and check to see if oil has gummed up in the splines and check for any damage to the splines that might have been caused by the grinding noise you heard.

    Took a vacation

Have you ever told someone your jeep is reliable enough to just jump in and drive anywhere? Well I did and my fiance said, "Well then pack your stuff we're going to the beach." 450ish miles from Knoxville, Tn down to Myrtle Beach, SC. Spent a few fantastic days with the fiance and the dogs. Not...

    H.I.D. lights

I did a little bit of research into this and it seems our best bet at an easy swap would be to pick up some hella e-code housings and pair it with a decent bulb. The e-codes are supposed to have a nice cutoff and light distribution. This is all second hand from what I've read on sports car...

    My Jeep got stolen today...

Me and my buddy both installed a kill switch in cab and one of MASTER LOCK® STARTER SENTRY™ WIRELESS ANTI THEFT VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER - CarParts Quality Discount Parts and Accessories on our jeeps. If the keychain thing isn't close enough the relay won't transfer power. They're listed for...

    vibration me crazy

Well when you drop the transmission/transfer case or in his case install a new transmission mount it helps to leave the nuts slightly loose, drive around the block to let the transmission shift around to where it wants to sit, then tighten them down there.

    vibration me crazy

If the vehicle is stopped when it is vibrating I wouldn't think it would be a u-joint. When you installed the lift did you leave the transmission bolts(the 2 on the bottom that locate it on the skid) a little loose and drive around the block before tightening them? When I installed my lift I had...

    Soft top care

Maybe try the spray on stuff they use to waterproof boots? I think they make some for tents too that would probably work.
