    RE: 91 jeep wrangler steering column broke could be debris in a lifter too, a good way to tell if it's an exhaust leak is to take a short length of hose while your jeep is running and hold 1 end of the hose at your ear and move the other at & around the exhaust ports, if it is an exhaust leak...

    I had a carter AFB that would gunk up around the accelorator pump & run out of gas :roll: that was a fun one to figure out. yours does sound like a vacuum problem though

    I know it is personal preference but...

    Front end noise 2.5 4 banger here too, 5th gear is pretty much worthless unless you're on a flat straightaway or going downhill :lol: I've had it up in the sticks & snow a few times & it does okay
