A little history:

I'm new to the forum, sort of. I was a member of several forums about 9 or 10 years ago, and this may have been one of them, but I couldn't remember my old log in info or screen names, so I'm new to all of them again.

About 10 years ago, I bought a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport 5-spd. It was slate blue with full steel doors, a 3-inch suspension lift and 33-12.50 tires. I absolutely loved it, but when my wife got pregnant, we needed a "family" vehicle, and the Jeep got sold, along with most of my man toys.

Fast forward to last month, and my Jeep fever hit an all time high. I sold my truck and went looking for another TJ. I finally found a 2005 Wrangler X 6spd in black clear coat with just 131k on the odometer. It already had a 2-inch lift/leveling kit on it and brand new 31-10.50 tires on it. Not much of a lift, but honestly, more than I need. To be fair, this will be a mall crawler. It has a D35 rear end with 3.07 gears, so its not the best for rock crawling, and I can't afford to swap axles and gears...for now.

I bought it for about $1700 under NADA book value and drove her home.

She's not perfect, and I believe has had a bit of a rough life, but has really good bones. I plan to document anything and all I do to it. From repairs to restoration to customization. I've already started with some little things such as cleaning and some prepping. I've placed orders on Amazon, eBay, and Quadratec and am just waiting for the parts to come in and the time to install them.

Here's a few initial pics of the Jeep. Also attached a photo of my old 98TJ. I still miss that Jeep.

As you can see, it's already brought a smile to my face!

Welcome back to Jeeps and Jeepz! Your old one was really nice looking and I can't wait to see the new one get built. I was out of a Jeep for three years and just got another TJ last year. It's hard to stay away.

Welcome to the 05 TJ club.

I was out of Jeeps for a couple of years too. Everything else just seems so boring - I had to come back.
