Use the type of oil originally specified for the engine. Fir exampke, don't use 20w-50 in an engine designed for 5w-30. The engineers that designed the engine do know a few things.

I don't recall the suspension detsils on the 94s. But I'd check the motor mounts and track bars. Sounds like something is twisting up under load and then untwisting when you let off...this can't be...

Pull a plug and see if you are getting a spark when the engine is cranking / turning over. I suspect the coil is not being energized. Perhaps the coil wires were disturbed during the other work.
