Re: New Jeep Owner 79 CJ5

A Jeep restored to factory stock conditions is a pretty capable vehicle.

Watch the ads and Jeep junkyards for parts. Because many folks are taking off stock parts and going with aftermarket...

Re: Big issue with My 2008 Jeep Sahara

Were you winching with it running?

Check your battery connections first. If that does not resolve the issue, try a jump start....the winch may have depleted the battery if the battery was weak,...

    Re: Happy 2022

I resolve to get the Jeep out of the garage and onto dirt roads more often. Hopefully retirement will facilitate that.

    Re: Jacked up Jeeps... 4cyl?

A 4-cylinder Jeep can do amazing things off road as long as the Jeep is matched up with a knowledgeable and skilled driver. Those that gripe and moan about the 4-cylinder being "under powered" are...

    Re: Leaky pinion

If it is not making a mess of the driveway or undercarriage, consider just topping off the differential and leaving it as is. If the seep becomes a drip, that is the time to fix it.

    Re: tail lights suck

Sounds like s break or pinch in the wire. A good auto electric shop will have equipment to pinpoint the problem....or, rewire it yourself.

    Re: I messed up[emoji23]

Is the card backed up? If so, leave the lost one lost and get a new one.

The old one will eventually shake out or become jamed in and lost forever.

    Re: New Brakes

What is your current brake situation? Disc from and drum rear, all drum, or all disc?

My 2002 Wrangler was fitted OEM with disc front and drum rear. Looking at the pad and disc wear over time,...

Re: To 4 wheel or not to 4 wheel...

Big lifts make getting in and out difficult if you don't need the lift.

Rooftop tents are silly. They strand your vehicle, wipe out gas mileage, and are hard to climb into and out if.

    You...

Re: How many miles per tank

My '02 TJ gets 13 mpg on and off road, it would probably get that falling off a cliff while the engine is off.

'02 TJ Wrangler, Automatic, 4.11 gears, 33" tires on 15" rims, regular fuel, all...

Re: Leaking blue rubber gasket on oil pan

I don't see any danger in cinching down the pan bolts. They likely torque in the pound-inch range, so look up the torque spec and use a torque wrench if possible.

    Call Smittybuilt?

Quadratech may also cover softtop frames.

    Re: Battery hooked up backwards

I'd suggest towing the Jeep to a good autoelectric shop and have them assess the damage. Their diagnosis fees will be money well spent.

    Re: Cherokee 35s death wobble

The much bigger tires might be too much for the steering stabilizer.

Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you watch all the steering linkage points for excessive movement.

    Re: Spray paint rims???

Yes, wheels can be painted and can look oretty good.

Steel rims seem to paint easier than aluminum. Prep is the key and several light coats will be less likely to drip.

    Re: Spacer on Tire Mount

The spacer might work, but it will move the mass out and increase the torque on the rack and mounts.
Too much of that and the rack or body could crack.

You want wheel metal to mount metal...

Re: 1987 CJ How Reasonable to Restore

Who would of thunk that kind of storage could be a viable business. But that's be the great old USA!!

You might want to consider just taking the doors off and keeping the hard top on.
