    outside door handles in YJ

How hard are the outside door handles to change on an 89 YJ? One of mine has a broken spring and sticks out, and I always wanted to change them to black anyhow. I remember from other cars that the rods that go to the latch and lock are a pain to work with.

I apologize for not keeping you updated, but I have not been spending much time posting things on the computer lately-not just on forums but not on Facebook or anything. Busy with the family, house projects, and, of course, my Jeep (and I would much rather spend time working on it, driving it...

    Franken yj

I have not been on these forums much lately, but just checked in and saw your creation. I have been working on a similar monster myself. I think I got my hood from the same place you did, only I chose the front opening. Pain in the a$$ cutting all of the openings. I reinforced part of the...

    Jeep Wrangler dash camera mount

I used a rollbar bracket and added small piece of metal bracket with 2 holes in it to attach my camera mount, which I took off a tripod like you did. The advantage of mine is that it shows the gauges as well as the window view. It also does not block my vision. The disadvantage is that I have...

Do you know which ones? Quadratech has pages of mirrors and I am not sure which ones would work.

    Mirror question

Hi, Does anybody know of a mirror that mounts on the windshield hinge and is usable with the steel doors on? I am tired of having to readjust my mirrors everytime I close the doors, plus it would be convenient not to have to move the mirrors when I take the doors off.

That is definitely on my list of future plans. So far, the car seems pretty stable on the street and highway, and when I raced it at the track, even at 101 mph it felt good. Remember that it has been lowered a few inches. But I like the idea of the reverse shackle, and I also think it will...

    Different kind of YJ

I thought about keeping the 4WD but wanted to keep things simple and make the Jeep as light as possible. It is a blast to drive. Much cooler (literally) than any muscle car with a hard top. People have even called it a dune buggy. As she sits now, even without the engine work I am planning...

    Manual brakes

Were manual brakes (as opposed to power) available in YJ's? I need to convert mine, since my cam only pulls 5 inches of vacuum at idle. What I really need to know is if I need a new brake pedal. Thanks for any help you can give me

The guy is amazing. The full name of his shop is Gardner Specialty Auto and it is near the Sears on 106/107. The phone number is (516) 934-0206. Tell Bobby that Lee sent you. Please keep me updated. I still can not figure out why more people don't build Jeeps like mine. It is much more...

    Different kind of YJ

And wait till you see the new top I am designing. It will be based on the Rampage bikini combo top. But I am having an extension sewn to the back part which will use conventional snaps to attach it to the back and sides so it will be totally sealed. It will use the roll cage as the supports...

Worse than a brick-a parachute. I want to use sheet-metal and fiberglass to close in the front of the fenders a little. Shouldnt need NOS with the new heads, carb, and cam. Edelbrock says it will be good for a true 430 HP which should push my times into the low 11's which is fast enough (for...

Gets lots of attention at shows. Took it to the track a few days ago-best time 13.1. Needs head work-rocker studs never threaded and pulling out. Plan on getting Edelbrock heads and roller cam for an actual 410-430 HP.

    Need measurements

Thanks but it wont help. I need to see where the bars sit in relation to the sides and back of the Jeep so I can see how it compares to my roll cage. Then I will be able to tell if the holes in the cover would fit my set up.

    Need measurements

Hi, I need help. I have a custom roll cage in my 1989 Wrangler. I would like to get a cover for the back, but don't know how close to factory my new bars are. I believe the overall dimensions are the same for all YJ's with the only difference being the newer ones have the family bar in the...

I had my Jeep at the shop today putting in a front stabilizer (single shock). Huge difference, by the way. Several people that came by asked if it was still four wheel drive. I told them that I didnt need it anymore, since my rear tires are now twice as wide so I get the same amount of...

    visors

Mine are all stainless too. For the doors and other places that used flatheads, I bought conical washers that center the bolt in the hole and they all worked out fine. And the hex heads make the Jeep look more rugged >)
