IIRC the plastic tanks have had some cap sealing and or cap venting issues. Maybe you are pulling a vacuum in the tank.

Th 400 has a wider pan than a TH350 so you may need a 2 pc front shaft. Your engine is offset to the right further complicating right side front shaft room. So you may need to move the engine to the left a little.

Kirkland,IL has a CJ5 as well.

xm is right a TJ, YJ, CJ only have about a 250# payload so they really can't carry much equipment. That is not to say they haven't but they are not as useful as a 1 ton pickup or Hummer. There are lots of old CJ's that were used as fire apparatus.

TX gringo does your frame have the third hole even though you do not have a sway bar? Most "universal" winch plates have multiple holes some get used some do not depending on the chassis.

Based on your description of the events prior to the noise I think you did some damage to either a gear or the chain in the t-case.

There is nothing wrong with a leaf spring suspension, other than it too has its limitations. To say a 4 link is weaker or less reliable is simply not true. Look at Dodge, Jeep, Ford they all use 4 link suspensions with no adverse effects on strength or reliability. A properly functioning 4 link...
