Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

No need...the code cleared itself without having to disconnect the battery again. Thanks for the reply, though. I hope anyone else who has this problem finds an easy fix like this one was.

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

How long does the battery need to be disconnected to clear the code? Autozone wouldn't clear it for me, but I know unplugging the battery can. I've tried it twice already with no luck.

Extending spare tire bump stops for different offset rims and larger tires

I need to extend the bump stops on the tailgate to accomodate a 32 X 11.5 tire on a 4" offset rim. The new tire/wheel setup has left quite a gap compared to the stock Canyon rims and 30 X 9.5 tires. The gap is about 3/4". I've tried to find used bump stops to cut and add to the current ones...

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

That's a better plan that what I had in mind...will do. Didn't you say in an earlier thread that this is a common place for these hoses to fail? Seems like everyone else who has this code might want to check the hose ends first to save time...my stupid self took the rear tire off to get to the...

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

Finally, finally, finally found what I think is the source. Two of the rubber hoses running parallel to (what I think are) the fuel lines under the drivers seat. They are split pretty badly near or on the couplings with the metal lines. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but I was on a...

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

Dingo, I haven't found the leak yet. But, there is a hissing noise coming out from under my Jeep (heard it while at the Taco Bell drive-thru) that makes me think a vacuum line may be the issue under the hood somewhere. Not sure yet, but I will post anything I find. I hope yours is as simple as a...

    15" Canyon Rims...set of 5 with 30" M/T's

Correction...only 4 have the M/T's...the spare still has the stock Goodyear 30" tire that came with the Sahara (used once). The 30" m/t's have maybe 10,000 miles of treadwear left (Definity Dakota). Two have plugs from nail punctures...they've held for the last 20,000 miles, though. The rims...

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

Great info, as always. Many thanks. I'll be doing some crawling in an under the TJ after work to see if I can locate any issues in the areas described. Again, awesome info...now at least I know where to start.

Evap leak code on '03 TJ, 4.0, auto

Anyone know the most common places to look for the leak? Is it usually something you can fix on your own? Tried changing gas caps, that didn't resolve it. Thanks a bunch.

Blew my middle console sub today..

I can't say that I recall which two of the four wires worked. I just tested different combinations until I found the best result. Just put one wire on one of the speaker connections, then try the other three on the other connection. If none of those combos work, use another wire on the one...

Transmission fluid leak around belly pan...

It was indeed the gasket. When the pan was removed, there was only a sliver of it left around the pan - there were even 1/4" gaps in some places where no gasket material was present at all. The replacement gasket is, what, 3/4" wide? What was left of the old gasket was maybe 1/16" wide...

Transmission fluid leak around belly pan...

Everything I can see makes it look like the leak is from the gasket between the pan and the case. So, I picked up a filter & gasket kit from Auto Zone (at 90K miles, it's time for a flush-and-fill anyway) to see if that works. Cross your fingers...thanks again, guys.

Opinions on lockers for '03 TJ...

Torn between getting a traditional locker for the Dana 35 (rear) on my TJ...like and Ox cable unit...versus an auto locker like this one: PowerTrax? No-Slip? Locker by Richmond and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware Not sure how reliable the automatic unit would...
