Bolts and straps? So the ujoint that connects the axle to the driveshaft? Front or rear axle? I would definately check your pinion angle. May be off pretty bad and when it extends or compresses gets bad enough the make the joint bind up and break. It happened to us on a 75 k5 blazer

I did that to my brothers zj... Put my his front springs in the back and put an old spaced off my xj on the front. If worked just fine

It may be a bad connection on ur fuel pump... Or a bad fuel pump.. if it stops working for a few seconds and the pressure dies out it would run awefully until the pressure is gone and it would stop running...

And your gas tank is clean as well? It's possible every now and then crappy denser fuel or liquid that's sitting on the bottom of the tank makes it in your fuel lines...
