I took out my Dana 20 today. 5 bolts and took off the T18 Bull gear. I put on the T19 Scout 300 bull gear. I replaced it with a Scout TC 146 Dana 300 and only used 4 bolts. The Scout 300 does not use the bottom hole.

I too have a Scout TC 146 AKA Dana300 you need the bull gear off a T19 300-8-11 AA sells them. And it bolts up to a Jeep T18

A CJ5 is short I'd go with a T18 4 speed.

some parts do I think? The 304 is an old motor and parts are harder to find you are better off puting in a Junk yard AMC 360 out of a Wag ot truck.

first off there are two YJ's the early one's with the 4.2 and the later ones with the 4.0 . The 4.0 has Fuel injection and is the cat's "you know what". So what ever you get get a Jeep with a 4.0.
