    leveling help. .

also take a look at ACOS adjustable coil-over spacers. good for fine tuning, adjusting to increased or decreased load (add a winch, lighten up with alum. head), and especially for adjusting to sagging springs down the road.

    Tj dual exhaust?

you can, but will lose low end torque. :(

    Wrangler YJ Throttle/Accelerator Sticking!!

turbo whine could also be coming from throttle body, but the vacuum leak is worth checking out. if you decide to clean your throttle body, i strongly recommend the seafoam brand throttle body cleaner (not the fuel treatment, although that's also a great product).

    1997 Jeep TJ towing capacity

actually, the manual had a much lower towing capacity than the auto. even xjs that year had only 2,000 tow rating with manual and 4.0, but 5,000 with aw-4. the aw-4 is a great transmission for towing, although the 1-2 gear position on the selector was problematic on lower speed, steep hills...

    New Jeep!

i know where you can get a great deal on an all-around beauty with nearly 60% more torque than that wrangler you're looking at, with great features (and stereo!) and for a couple thousand less. prettier, too. ;-)

Cherokee pics. Lets see your rig

go to a spring shop and have your spring pack custom arched/rebuilt. he'll put your ride height exactly where you want it, give you exactly the spring rate you want, get it done in a day, and all for the cost of off-the-shelf spring packs built to someone else's specs.

    1997 Jeep TJ towing capacity

same answer as before. it would help, you could likely survive it... but it wouldn't make it safe. you'd still be relying on someone not to do something even a little stupid around you... and i don't trust the dumbasses around here that much at all. in fact, i'm usually more correct to assume...

    1997 Jeep TJ towing capacity

yes, that too. sway could easily get out of hand. your jeep could begin fishtailing and skidding side to side going down the highway, even. with no trailer brakes, you wouldn't be able to do much to stop it. i experienced that nearly twenty years ago, with a poorly distributed load of...

    1997 Jeep TJ towing capacity

sorry, i misread the posts above. you already got that info. i've heard of disasters with wranglers towing very much. specifically one in the late '80s involving a small horse trailer. i do a bit of towing myself, and there are few times i feel as helpless as when i have to slam on the...

    1997 Jeep TJ towing capacity

i could be wrong, but i think the manual transmission in '97 capped your towing capacity at 2,000. that's off the top of my head, so i could be wrong.

    Mechanic in a Can

+1. it's a lot cheaper to just buy good gas! but yeah, the seafoam, when you need something like that, is great. and the seafoam throttle body cleaner is nothing short of awesome, at least the one time i've ever needed to use it. still have the other half a can in the garage.

yeah, and what's your address, and what times do you leave the jeep unattended?

i know where you can get an awesome deal on one with some balls... :) love mine to death.

    Return of the Cherokee

i was under the impression you were saying something about the bike engines themselves, perhaps about "all" of them. but even still, i don't think the above statement has ever been true, to the extent that connecting rods inside the engines "all (or any) said mitsubishi on them." but i do get...

    Return of the Cherokee

umm... not to call you out in too big a fashion on this, but... what harley motor did you ever open up and find rods that said mitsubishi on them?

    Return of the Cherokee

so, to recap, scale back the "ruggedness" of the liberty (oh geez), and call it a cherokee? sounds like the pig/lipstick situation, to me. call it whatever you want, doesn't make it one of the most successful platforms in jeep history.
