You might want to make sure the oil pump isnt burned up as well I had a similar problem sounded like a knocking in the top end but with more load on it it stopped and the oil pump was weak or went out all together and sent a rod through the block

I had a similar problem you described and come to find out the oil pump stopped working or got weak and spun a rod bearing so you might hook a gauge up and check pressure

I hooked up a scan tool and its not running rich like I thought is is swithching back and forth between rich and lean like its suposed to, tested the cts and its tests out good when it heats up it will throw a code for a knock sensor but not exactly sure why or what that does.
