    Timing with vacuum gage ?s

check this out: Browser Warning as for your questions, vacuum advance comes from the base of the carb. To diagnose bad advance, use a timing light and see if it goes up when you hit the throttle.

    best sounding muffler

I went cheap. Summit Racing sells their own headers (I got the fenderwell ones) and their own glass packs. I got headers with gaskets and collectors for $105. The glass packs were $18.99 each (I have a V8). That and some cheap connecors and turndowns, and for about $150, I got all I need. They...

    Timing with vacuum gage ?s

What you do is set the timing to the highest steady vacuum at idle. Although this should be close to correct, I would still prefer to do it with a timing light. This works on pre-computer engines, I would not try it with a newer engine.

    Vacuum question

I have a 1975 304. I removed all the emissions. All the other vacuum stuff has been plugged up with bolts. Right now I have vacuum hooked up only to the distributer (from base of carb.) and the pvc valve. Is that the only vacuum I need? I haven’t started the engine yet, Thanx

    Carb problems

google "nutter bypass". I've never had the engine, carb you have, but have heard that this is a common problem solution to the engine. You should make sure that the nutter applies to your year and model, as I don't know.

    Non-jeep question..

You probably tried this, but turning the wheel back and forth is one possible way if the wheel lock is sticking. More likely, there is a safety switch that won't let the key come out unless you are in park or neutral that might be stuck (thinking you are still in drive). You may have to take...

Changes from 1975 to 1976 Jeeps?

Hey, I got a 1975 CJ5. I'm looking in the parts books and most of the items start at 1976. Does anyone know if there were really that many changes for 1976? Example: Bikini tops, side mirrors, Jeep covers, consoles, door hinges, bumpers, etc. I could go on and on, but you get the idea...

    need more power!

Don't forget gears. Penny for penny, you can't beat steeper gears for a seat of the pants difference.

I made this pic my self

I like the CJ's because they have a more spartan interior. Mine is all metal. The steering wheel is the old kind, the dash metal, etc. I looked at the 2008 Jeeps and just could not get past the "carlike" interior. Just didn't feel like a Jeep. Heck, I would be afraid to get one of those dirty. I...

Just having some fun. I prefer the old CJ's with V8's, but that is one sweet Jeep, Joopin!

    2.5L performance?

If you have an electric fan, I would put an override switch in the dash so that you can turn it off when going through water. Seems like it would be a problem otherwise..

    how restore my steering wheel?

undercoating..... good idea / bad idea

One thing to watch out for is that if it's not done right, it will peel up and just trap moisture. As the previous post says, it's all in the preperation.
