    Advice on removing steering shaft

Hello. I see that I will have to remove my steering shaft in my 1975 CJ5 to get my new headers on. Has anyone done this? There is a U-joint near the fire wall with a sleeve that has a bolt in each side above and below it. I'm wondering if removing those bolts will allow it to come out? I would...

    Jeep broken into ... AGAIN!

Hope this doesn't sound callous, but consider yourself lucky. I had a complete 1973 Jeep Renegade stolen - cops did nothing. A hit and run driver (No license, stolen tags, unregistered vehicle) hit and totaled my 1977 Jeep CJ5. He almost killed someone in another car which he also took out. He...

    how restore my steering wheel?

Hello. I have a 75 cj5 with the original steering wheel. It's the big black one that looks like it should be in an 18 wheeler. Anyway, it has cracks in the plastic in several places that are quite deep and look bad. I would like to fill them in. I checked and restoration kits are over $100.00...

    Clutch Noise

Not normal at all. It's under warrenty. I would take it straight to the dealer. As far as cause, many things could cause it. Throw out bearing, Loose transmission mount, Shaft bearings, you name it.

    No Brake Lights

If the blinkers work, it has to be the brake switch or the wires from it to the harness. The switches are cheap and are easy to replace. they mount on the top of the brake pedal. I once had one that was only out of adjustment. Have you tried pressing the switch with your finger?

    304, 360, or 401

I would consider the 3 identical when it comes to reliability. I have had several AMC v8's and most of the parts are interchangeable. Basically, you get bigger, you pay more for gas, but get better power. The upfront cost will be a little more on the bigger engine as well.

    X vs Rubicon?

Hello. I'm in exactly the same boat. Here is what I've kinda heard so far: 1. The Rubicon will hold it's value much better. Also, the upgrades are under warrenty. If you buy an X and start changing stuff, you will run a great chance of voiding the warrenty. 2. You can make an X as good or...

Help me decide on my next Jeep

Thanx for your input. As far as budget, I could handle a loan easy, but I don't have the ability to pay a lot of cash for a jeep from a private party (no loan). I really love the CJ look, including the bare interior. The new jeep interiors kind of turn me off. I would like the Jeep to be a...
