Camo Jeeps, the next step in hunting and Jeeping....

I would have taken mine to a shop to get it done but I have a thing about doing as much on my own to my xj and like Tug says it is really easy to cover trail damage / usage evidence. With mine I am after a single color not a combination and I work on an army base so it will turn a head or two I...

How to Tell if Your 4WD is Working

    1. Find a passenger-helper. 2. If you have manual hubs, lock 'em. 3. Get into some real wet slippery mud. 4. Engage 4 wheel drive. 5. Stop the Jeep (in the mud). 6. Turn the steering wheel all the way right. 7. Stick your head out the driver's side window. 8. Look directly at your front...

    CD Players....

This may sound a little odd but here goes. I am looking for a head unit that has a video screen that pulls out. That isn't a big deal but I need one that comes out and then goes down not up out of the head unit. In the older XJ's like mine the head unit is recesed under the dash about 3 inches...

Camo Jeeps, the next step in hunting and Jeeping....

Only thing I hate about flat paint is trying to clean mud stains off/out of the paint. The CARC paint the army uses is flat and keeping that stuff clean was a B1#$H when I was in the army. I am not after a super high gloss mirror finish, I don't think that is possible with a rattlecan paint job...

Camo Jeeps, the next step in hunting and Jeeping....

I am actually using "rustoleum" (sp?) They have a gloss tan that is an exact color match for the CARC paint that the army is using on everything that is getting sent to the sand. :D I will post pics as I get more of it done.

    horn button assemble?

What spring are we talking about here? The one under the cup that the horn button snaps onto? Large falt spring? Like the one in this pic? Mine will only go in one way and then the cup sits right on top of it with the slot for the horn button towards the top. Then the nylon insulator that is...

Roundeye has gone square. (( XJ inside))

Honestly I am not sure how much flex you will get from a 2" lift. I am not sure if it will articulate down far enough to bind on the shock mounts. You might want to try it and see how it does and if there is an issue look for a set of control arms. If you have access to an RTI ramp or a good...

Roundeye has gone square. (( XJ inside))

Here is another reason to replace those front control arms. The lower control arm will stop the downward travel of the axle and bind on the shock mount. I have seen these get bent and crack as well.

Roundeye has gone square. (( XJ inside))

As the front end gets lifted the with the stock control arms the front axle and everything attached to it will start to move backwards. This changes the shock angle steering linkage angles and can/will cause a lot of problems for you with articulation and handeling. By replacing the control arms...

    '96 4.0 ZJ stalling problems.

There should be 4 relay's under the hood on the passenger side. If I am not mistaken the one closest to the firewall is the fuel pump relay and the second one back from the front is the A/C. Yes physically swap the 2 relay's. If it the problem stops you know it is the relay and it is a cheap...

    '96 4.0 ZJ stalling problems.

Try swapping the fuel pump relay and the A/C relay. I had a bum relay that would go out for no reason from time to time and then work great for a couple hours. It was really frustrating to track that down.

Roundeye has gone square. (( XJ inside))

Long Island Jeepers? Bueller? Buellerrrrr......? Yes it does look good! My 88 XJ has been going through the same changes. When you are ready to work on a new set of stops let me know. I am fabing a set now for mine. Those TSL swampers are gonna eat up your body if you dont. I had to not only...

    Jeep graveyards

33" tires on a 2in lift Here in Colorado every third vehicle seems to be a Jeep of one breed or another. I have not seen a specific "Jeep graveyard" but all of the junkyards have Jeeps in them.

Remember to use locktite or a similar product on those bolts. You really dont want to open that back up again anytime soon. Well, I know I don't want to go through that again!

    Ultimate JEEPZ.COM Trail Ride

Yes I am still on for this but I am going to need some people to help out. My life has changed a lot in the last couple of months and I can't dedicate as much time as I know this will require to pull it off and pull it off well. I am very familiar with the trails in central and southern Co and...

    1988 cherokee steering column looseness

I had this problem not to long ago. See this thread http://www.jeepz.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=318562 and I found another site that had a very good explination on how to get this fixed. http://www.necoa.org/article95.html I know it is not a jeep site but it is the same column...
