HELP: Jeep Overheating & @ wits end

Does it overheat consistently, or is it unpredictable weather it will overheat under the same conditions? If it regularly overheats under harsh conditions, I would bet there is a mechanical problem like the system loosing pressure or a clog in the radiator, but if it is erratic, then it would...

    Oil cooler

Hmmm....Redrooster, you say the Focus fan puts out comparable cfm with the Taurus fan and fits the radiator? I found a new Focus fan on ebay for $110, and it's pretty appealing. The reason I was interested in the oil cooler is I was told they are a good way to prolong engine life, better than...

    4.56 or 4.88 auto 2.5L 33 tires

I didn't realize that you didn't have overdrive; I see where you would be worried about the 4.88's on the highway. I would just compare max cruising rpm/speed you will be happy with and go from there. Both gear ratios will work well, only one will be better offroad and the other on the highway...

    Jeep caving...

Driving a Jeep in a cave? Must have good air flow if the exhaust didn't get to them. Sounds like fun, but more dangerous than usual...not something I plan on trying.

    4.56 or 4.88 auto 2.5L 33 tires

I thought they did too; a buddy of mine installed 2.5L axles in his 4.0L Wrangler to get the 4.10's.

    Oil cooler

Well, the stroker's gonna be putting out alot of heat, is costing me an arm and a leg to make, and cooling oil is a pretty effective way to prolong engine life, especially at low rpm/speed when the cooling system isn't at its best. I think I might buy something like this...

    Oil cooler

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&item=230003214175&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 What do you all think of this oil cooler? I'm looking for one for my stroker, and this one is definately within my budget, but I've never seen a cooler like this before. It...

    4.56 or 4.88 auto 2.5L 33 tires

Like Bounty said, 4.56 to go back to stock, 4.88 for more power but lower freeway speeds. You can plug in the model of your transmission at http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html and compare different gear ratios side by side; it's the most detailed gear ratio calculator I've come accross...

    Terrible

When are they going to make a Jeep body kit for a hummer? I think the landrunner company has a few things reversed...

    Bucking Bronco in 1st

Is the jeep carbureted? If so, I would check the choke, air/fuel ratios, and everything else on it. The ignition could be to blame as well. If it's fuel injected, maybe the crank position sensor? My best guess is an engine issue. What engine is in the Jeep?

    Goofy CJ stance

After looking at the pictures again, I noticed that the body doesn't look level with the frame. I would check the body mounts and measure the distance between the frame and ground by each axle; it's possoble a body mount is broken or that the the original owner changed them to compensate for...

    Goofy CJ stance

Is it just me, the camera angle, or does it look like the passenger side is sagging more? Are the serial numbers right on all the springs? If not, I would contact Quadratec...there might be a problem with the springs. Add a leafs would work, but they would just be a bandaid for an underlying...

    Terrible

Just think, if he hadn't bought that horrible body kit he could have afforded a decent suspension lift instead of those terrible lift shackles. Hummer front ends look good on hummers, not on Jeeps. That thing really does looks awfull.

    I want one

    Wanting to get into Jeeps...again

I would say Wrangler...A Wrangler with 33's and 3.5" lift will take you where you want to go offroad, and be plenty practical for street use. When you eventually get into hardcore stuff, just get a 6" longarm and 35's. The turning radius of a Wrangler will be a big advantage offroad...not...

    Jeep Compass gets Slammed

I think the 2002 2-door concept version looked pretty cool; not in a jeep way, but in a more sporty, Porscha Cheyene sorta way...but still with some offroad-looking features. I don't like the 2007 model, it definately seems like something designed more to attract the "16 year old girls who love...

Why Jeeps are better than hummers...

Lets not forget that hummers come stock with lockers, so comparing them to an unlocked Jeep isn't quite fair...I have seen hummers do some pretty crazy stuff, but I wouldn't be able to say that I've seen them outwheel a Jeep with lockers.

    Wanting to get into Jeeps...again

I'm noy gonna say too much to avoid shaking up that hornet's nest, but... The strength of the transmission depends on the year, and the XJ's can be very capable; the 1990 and newer manuals are pretty decent, and i think the 2002 and newer have even better manuals (the nv3550). I don't know too...
