Great link. Where did you tap in on the manifold side? Also, I have 10 dashes on the motor for timing marks. (258). They are as follows, +2 , 0 , -2 , -4 , -6 and so on starting with the lowest mark. Correct? I do not have a chiltons manual. Wanted to thank you for all the info. This has been...

    Computer bypass 2100 changeout

Ok guys, found another issue. I went to check timing again and when I removed dist. vacuum, there was no suction. That reminded me that I have a crack in my exhaust manifold. Is this the possible reason I could be off in timing?

Good god, this looks way off. What's a good starting point at around 700 rpm at idle? -9,-10?

Great question. I got my old light out and will check. Have not done it in years so bear with. She was warm though. Correct me if I'm wrong but since I switched the carb, wouldn't that change timing a bit?

Oooh!?! Some disappointment. Took her our for her first real drive and found out quick the new throttle return spring was way to tight. Could barely punch the gas. Put a lighter one on and headed back out. She sputters if you punch it and stalled when I tried to turn around. Got to figure this out.

I used the original linkage setup and mounted a bracket to the throttle arm and existing linkage pull down. Here's a pic

Throttle doesn't seem to be sticking. Once she revs up to 2000 and stays there, if I give her a bump of gas, she comes back down to 700-800.

Second reply, I have also noticed it idles at about 750. If I rev her slowly to about 2000rpms and let off, it stays reved for a min. That mean I'm running rich?

Brake booster and line untouched. Dist vacuum hooked up. I just removed and capped the plug with 5 ports. I also changes pcv to single output which goes to charcoal canister and is now in the rear of the valve cover. Front of valve cover has a breather. It's probably on my head. Braking always...

Hey superj, I just removed the web of vacuum hose and took her for a spin. Seems as though the brakes are weaker. Could this be or is it in my head? Here is a pic.

Now I'm confused. I may have my terminology wrong. I am trying to accomplish the "nutter" bypass. Everything I have read says to splice the orange and violet wires from distributor to "box under washer reservoir". That box is what I was referring to as the computer. Think it's really called...
