Thanks for the tips Jeepin. Guess I'll have to go steal my jackstands back off my dad.
I was planning on getting a high flow cat. The only one I've found is that Random Technologies unit that Quadratec sells. Anyone have any experience with this one or know a better (or cheaper)...

I ran 31s on my 91 YJ on 8" wheels, but I'm not sure what the backspacing was. They did rub on the flares a bit. The easy fix was to put a 1" shackle lift on it. That worked pretty well. They stopped rubbing after that, plus a shackle lift is really cheap and easy and it looks better...

The biggest shackle lift I've ever seen is an inch and a half. But I think if you do any type of shackle or suspension lift, if you go over 2.5 inches, you need to start messing around with the pitman arm and transfer case, etc. [addsig]

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked the clutch fluid and the level seems fine. In fact it seems maybe a little high. The brake fluid was a bit low though, so I'm glad I looked. I don't think it's an air bubble because the clutch really isn't "spongy", but I don't think you...

well, I'm currently running 15x8 stock aluminums. I'd like to replace them with either black rockcrawlers or black AREs. I'm looking for a good balance of on and off road performance. this thing's my daily driver so I don't want to sacrifice much in terms of wear and on-road...

I've got a trailmaster lift on my ride 97 TJ. It rides ok, and I haven't had any problems with it. Of course I've only had the Jeep for about 2 months now, but the lift's been on for over a year now. [addsig]

The O2 sensor on my 97 TJ fits upstream from the cat in the downpipe. You must have done a whole lotta cutting to cut that out of the system. Was the cat a direct fit?[addsig]

Thanks for the heads up JeepGuy. I only have 72K on my Jeep, but I'm not looking to replace the cat with and OEM one, so I don't think this will apply to me. I'd rather put on a high flow piece. It looks like I'll probably end up going with the random technologies cat. thanks for...

dingus, that is perhaps the single greatest idea I've ever heard. I'm calling the dealership this afternoon.

I live in the highlands of Pennsylvania and I'm always parking mine around town with the top off and NEVER lock the doors. I have yet to have anything stolen. In fact, one time I had a secret admirer leave me a rose and a phone number on the front seat when my old YJ was parked...

I had this same issue with my '91 YJ. This light is on a timer. If I remember correctly, it comes on around 80K or 90K miles. This is simply a reminder to change or service your O2 sensor. The thing with the light is that you can't reset it even after you replace the O2 sensor...

It depends, but one of my favorite memories of cruising with the top down was driving up the Hatteras National Seashore from Ocracoke to Nags Head, watching the sun set over the sound, and listening to some James Taylor and Nick Drake. That was a drive to remember.[addsig]

Thanks for the advice guys. The reason I was looking at a 16 inch wheel was because then I could get 33s that'd stay between the fender flares. The only 33s I've seen for a 15 inch wheel are 12.50s. For a 16 inch wheel most companies make a 285/75/R16 that's essentially a 33x11.50...

LOL! Ok, I was thinking "Factory Service" or something like that. Anyway, is that like a Chilton's or a Hayne's manual or what? Is it the consumer version or dealer version? Is it '97 specific or cover other years? sorry 'bout all the questions, but I already have a Haynes...

I actually just replaced the plugs about 5000 miles ago with platinums. I'll look into the fuel filter though. That's not in the tank is it???[addsig]

I ran the codes and got a 72, which translated says, "catalyst efficiency below required level", or something like that. That and the rattling sound from underneath led me to believe that it was the catalytic converter that was at fault. I guess once that's replaced and the engine...

Just had a garage replace both the front and rear pinion seals. Turns out they were both leaking. Seems odd that they both went at the same time. Could this be an indication of something bigger being wrong or is it just one of those things that goes bad?[addsig]
