Brakes lights activate when engine on. Please Help

the first thing you need to do is start calling the local new jeep dealers and ask how much to reprogram an ECM. Then check to see if they have any compatibility issues they know of, by supplying your VIN ( they can Identify options and factory settings from it) and then tell them the ECM you...

Brakes lights activate when engine on. Please Help

most of the USED ecm dealers give guarantees on the units when you send in the old one. make sure you send it in or yu can be screwed in short order. and here is why: There really is no such thing as a remanufactured ECM. the main components are potted in a thermal epoxy that cant be readily...

The best winch for my Jeep?

quite literally "The most expensive you can afford". Some say 1.5 times the weight of your jeep. But that rating rapidly decreases as you reel in cable. your jeep weighs just under 5000 pounds without people or gear, so covering for that at 1.5 times is going to put you at about 8500...

Bigger tires with no lift, has anyone had an experience

there are MANY different issues that add to this including the tread type. if you can, search out the options that were available from the factory, and look for the largest size tire they offered, rule of thumb is you can safely go one size TALLER than that. Width however is determined by your...

    Transfer Case Shift Linkage

I think we both agree they are the worst method to use, and should only be used in conjunction with other methods so that the center of gravity and suspension geometry are maintained (Yes the center of gravity can be maintained while lifting the jeep but it aint easy) so the handling and wear...

    Transfer Case Shift Linkage

back when the shifters were directly connected to the Tcase and transmission body lifts were cheap and easy ways to clear tires. but that WAS decades ago. jeeps are not built like that anymore. Even a 2 inch lift can create linkage issues that create issues that need to be dealt with, and add...

    Headlight issues

If you will look at the size of the ground wire that goes to the body, it is rather small, You will find numerous other grounds going from the engine to the frame, body and other points of the vehicle. the one that goes from the battery to the body is inconsequential per the factory service...

Brakes lights activate when engine on. Please Help

In the engineering arena there is an old adage that goes "Keep It Simple Stupid" (The KISS PRINCIPLE). This applies doubly for trouble shooting. Have you unplugged your brake light and started the engine yet? If so what happens? If you just disconnected the lights you installed, and induced...

    Transfer Case Shift Linkage

The only real reason for a body lift is to accommodate lifting the transfer case above the frame line. but there is more to it than just adding spacers and raising the T case. You have literally changed ALL the geometry of the driveline at that point. and are looking at thousands of dollars of...

    Headlight issues

Another reply to an old post: The Battery ground... it is usually to the engine block, not body. Also get a can of spray electrical cleaner, pull the connector on the head lights and saturate the plug. take a woman's emery board cut to size to fit in the socket and clean it make sure no...

Bigger tires with no lift, has anyone had an experience

IF you currently have stock size tires, a one inch change (one size) is no issue, if everything is in proper repair. If anything is damaged or worn all bets are off, which is normal, even putting new tires of the same size on.

    TJ's Rear Brakes...

Since you are pulling the axles, I'd make a run to the local bone yard, and find a Grand Cherokee of the same year and pull the rear disk brakes. and all associated hardware, should not cost more than a few bills. Replace your rear drums with this. Make sure you grab the Ebrake parts as well...

Can anyone tell me what this is?

People always forget that these sites are linked to the most popular search engines, and when someone types in a search, they come up. personally I find it irritating as hell when an incomplete thread comes up. Its very rude of the OP to leave it hanging there. So when possible someone needs...

GM has recalled 30 Million vehicles for 2014 (and the clock is still ticking!)

Government motors at its finest. when they dropped so many viable vehicles and replaced them with junk to meet inane govt standards, it was bound to happen

Hesitates in 2nd gear and/or Sputters in 1st and 2nd

it seems that the average sensor doesn't react fast enough and doesn't produce sufficient voltage for the pcm in the Wranglers to work with Gotta love Chrysler, Or not...

Hesitates in 2nd gear and/or Sputters in 1st and 2nd

you should be able to verify if it is a harness issue by probing the harness for voltage. I don't recall the leads off hand, and never trust memory on these anyway, but you can find the voltage level online, and which pins are V+ ground and output. The V+ is the heater voltage, to the sensor...

Can anyone tell me what this is?

And was never closed by the OP hence the discussion is left open as a point of reference for others. Had the OP replied with an answer on what the shifter/transfer case actually was, it would have been a different story.

    95 Grand Cherokee....stalling

Thanks for the update. One of the things that really irks me is when a thread is left hanging and no solution is posted if one is found. Ive revived any old threads because of this. People need to remember that when they start a thread they are not doing it just for their own benefit, but are...
