    Transfer Case Problems

WHAT? They are not "finicky" on the fluid used, just like any TC follow spec and you will be fine. People try to make these units out to be something mysterious and strange when they are actually simpler than the part time units are. The quickest and most positive way to tell if your VC...

Hesitates in 2nd gear and/or Sputters in 1st and 2nd

what BRAND O2 sensor is it? this actually may be the answer you seek... Bosh sensors are notorious for creating issues... and they are the mfg of most if not all "house brand" sensors. Stick with NGK/NTK for reliability

Arrrrgh! Lost my wheel lock key

the only problem here is tightening the other lugs distributes pressure equally to all the lugs. instead, LOOSTEN them all the way, except for the one you need to remove, and jack the vehicle up at that wheel, this will allow the wheel to tip IN at this lug removing MORE pressure than you will...

I had a monkey at the tire joint use an impact driver put the lock on the wheels of my ford. he over tightened it and split it breaking the top off it, I drove an impact socket onto it removed all the other lugnuts and lifted that corner of the car to get all the tension off the lug had the...

    Transfer Case Problems

I'm not familiar with the quadra drive, but am intimately familiar with the Quadra trac. First answer is IF you have been putting it in neutral to tow, the answer is no. Look instead at your steering... the Constant velocity joints make this kind of noise when they go bad. If they are the ball...

Transfer Case Problems... 96 Jeep Cherokee

On the Tcase, once you identify it, you will be able to order a rebuild kit for it. seals bearings and so forth, it would probably be worth it to order a chain right away as well, since they stretch over time and miles and you will have it apart anyway.

    96 jeep cherokee 4.0 problems

First I don't trust ANY O'Reilly electrical parts, from repeated bad experiences, such as sub par connector sizes. On the PCM, it could be a major issue, the big question is did they exercise and fully test it before reprogramming it? IF they didn't, reprogramming it doesn't mean a thing...

Help Needed with 2008 Jeep Wrangler Lifted Suspension/Steering Issue

A proper sized stabilizer is a must, But here is a bit of advice on them. Find an decent flat and smooth blacktop or concrete parking lot and disconnect the stabilizer and test the vehicle out. Without the bumps, crown in the road, tar in the joints between slabs and other items that cause...

Can anyone tell me what this is?

make sure you ASK the person you are buying from. there are multiple setups that use dual stick transfer cases, some are simply gimmicks that look neat, to others that are heavy duty and hard core, like the Atlas Tcase... Ive even seen some dual stick setups where the second stick operated...

One million points to whoever can tell me whats wrong

I've done a lot of repairs and mods over the decades, and am more than willing to share my experience with everyone. But the two things that sucked the most was the era I did them in and the lack of technology that it had. The Internet wasn't and digital photography didn't... I enjoy Jeepz.com...

Jeep cranks but does not start. No check engine light.

reply to old thread: O2 sensors in Jeeps don't just create a voltage (thermocouple) they are also heated so that they set a reference point for the PCM to start at. This speeds up the time frame in which the system can get accurate readings, since it doesn't have to wait for the exhaust stream...

1993 jeep cherokee, cranks but won't start

Timing chains most often go bad when the vehicle is shut down or at stall. The jeep design has a tensioner in the cover that quiets it down and prevents excessive noise. Another point of information to correct a false idea that is floating around about Jeep timing sets, is the factory and...

noisy lifters after an oil change

It sounds to me that crud has broke loose and plugged your hydraulic lifters. My first thought was a bad oil filter, but you stated more than one oil change. I'd replace the lifters, its a pita but it sounds necessary at this point, or you will be chasing a problem for quite a while. If these...

Changing the transmission fluid this weekend

the 10w/30 is used in MANUAL transmissions in EXTREMELY COLD CLIMATES where regular gear lubes wouldn't work due to being to thick from the cold, Other than Alaska, I wouldn't use it in the US, since it thins out too much when heated, and gear lubes function due to extremely high viscosity...

    96 jeep cherokee 4.0 problems

first have your fuel pressure tested, I don't agree with the mopar parts, high performance parts work fine cheap OEM parts DONT. Your O2 sensor voltage is a bit low. if those are parts store variety or Bosh dump them and put in NTK (NGK manufactured) This brand is cheaper and far superior...
