Distributor pickup coil aka Switch Plate

Here is today's update. The car is running again. Having removed the pickup and found I could not test it so I ordered a new one and a crank sensor at the same time, just in case. For no real reason I decided to fit the disc back in the distributor and give it a try, it's only a 5 minute job...

Distributor pickup coil aka Switch Plate

Hi Terry, thanks for the quick reply. Sadly it's not the coil that seems to be the problem, its the disc that goes inside the distributor with the Hall effect switch. It has a three wire lead coming off it and I have no idea how to test it. YouTube has not suggested anything. All suggestions...

Distributor pickup coil aka Switch Plate

My Jeep stopped dead half way out of the gate this morning. It is absolutely dead, no sign of trying to start. The OBD1 flashing light system pointed at the pickup coil in the distributor. There are plenty to be found on the net from a very expensive Crown one to not so expensive Shanghai...

Greetings from new member in the UK with temp sensor question

Hello from a fellow Brit. exiled in Spain. My best suggestion would also be Rock Auto, I have a 1994 XJ and manage to get a lot of stuff from them. You have to watch out for import duty as it inflates the price by quite a margin. Since you did the post you have probably got it sorted by now...

    XJ STARTER MOTOR BRUSH HOLDER

The problem I have is that all three dead ones are different makes so it's a strong possibility all the brush holders are different. If I could just find one brush holder for an XJ starter I could compare any pictures to what I have in the box and hopefully land the right one. Even Rock Auto...

    XJ STARTER MOTOR BRUSH HOLDER

I now have a box of 3 dismantled XJ starter motors all with the same problem, worn out brushes. It seems that the brush holder is a separate sub assembly riveted into the end cap complete with the 4 brushes and connection tail. I can find these on Ebay.de for about €15-17 (Burstenhalter in...

    XJ Heater hoses

Quick update. I have not yet found any OEM hoses for my RHD Cherokee. For the moment I am giving up the search as I have fabricated some with various bends, copper pipe and Jubilee clips and it's holding water. I'll start the search again in the New Year. Meantime, Happy Christmas all...

    XJ Heater hoses

That is a very interesting article and the discussion has been going on for a lot longer than I thought. There is a grain of truth in what I said about Henry Ford.

    XJ Heater hoses

I come from the UK and drove there for many, many years. Now I live in Spain which is on the other side. I had done holidays in Europe so the transition was not difficult. It was more difficult going back to the UK and using a hire car. Had to think very hard at roudabouts. There are also...

    XJ Heater hoses

I have asked a friend who is in the UK to check out the local Jeep dealer with your numbers and see if anything is available. Seeing that we drive on the LEFT over there there may be a chance of some new old stock somewhere. BTW I am in Spain. Did you know that it was Napolean who changed...

    XJ Heater hoses

That's how I'm getting by at the moment, bits of copper and Jubilee clips.

    XJ Heater hoses

Thanks superj. Great find. Definitely look like the real thing. I would be a bit reluctant to buy second hand ones because it is impossible to guess what condition they might be in.

    XJ Heater hoses

Thanks for this. Sadly they are not what I am looking for. This is a far more complex set up with crimped metal pipes. My needs are much more basic, just plain rubber tube with preformed bends to wrap round the back of the block. I came across Omix Ada yesterday for the first time who show...

    XJ Heater hoses

That does indeed look very close to what I'm after.. My set up does not have any valves or vacuum lines and the coolant flows through the core at all times. I'll contact them for a chat tomorrow. Thank you for that.

Great to hear from you. I hope you can find it again. Cheers Mike

    XJ Heater hoses

I have been trying to contact Mopar service to ask some questions and can't get past the first page and the email address they gave me does not work and I am tired of being run around in circles. I suspect it is picking up that I am not in the US, though that hasen't been a problem in the past...

    XJ Heater hoses

That's the best news yet. I have already checked Ebay in the UK, Spain and Germany but nothing is showing. Could you send me a link to each of the ads you have mentioned? I can then go in and check them out . Thank you. Usually suppliers are willing to ship their goods (for a fee). Sadly...

    XJ Heater hoses

Thanks very much for the suggestion. They are quite close to what is needed. The problem is the cost, plus, by the time I have shipped them here to Spain the price will have doubled. I find this with RockAuto stuff all the time, so that rather prices them out of touch.

    XJ Heater hoses

Happily the car passed its test yesterday with a cobbled together hose, so that's that for another 12 months, Of all the requests I have made no one has come up with any leads on new one piece pipes. It is going to have to have ones made up with various elbows and bends. The trouble with doing...
