Don't know this particular engine/transmission setup, but does this automatic have a vacumn actuated modulator? If it does, the pressure washing could have blown a rubber line off of the modulator. A lot of older transmissions will not upshift if that vacumn line is not "talking" to the...

I would replace the master cylinder from your given info - sounds like the master is "leaking internally" (fluid is doubling back alongside the piston into the reservoir) A quick check to help that is a good indicator - take the master cover off, start engine and press on the brake pedal...

Re: RE: A not so satisfied user I would check the 3 bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate for tightness - when they loosen up it makes a rattling, knocking sound and gets worst as they loosen more. If the are loose, don't retighten them....replace with NEW ones. LBR
