you say "cranks but does not turn over" If it cranks, that IS "turning over" All "turning over" means is that the crankshaft spins when starter is engaged. Turning over has NOTHING to do with whether the engine fires, spits, sputters or anything of the sort.....

as title says. needed trans for buddy's Jeep, but had to buy it all to get the trans. out of 92 YJ that was rear ended and totaled. Located near Chicago PM here for details jeep it was out of, was RARELY, if ever, off road. occasional use of 4wd in winter, ran/worked when pulled.

got one... about an hour south of Chicago. it has some miles on it but it ran when pulled and was pulled because the jeep it was in was wrecked. it came from a 92 Wrangler. It was my brother's jeep that he owned for about 12 years. so I know this engine.

this isnt a new prob;em within 2 weeks this past summer I had this happen to (and had to replace the key lock for the ignition) on BOTH my Jeeps>>> one a 97 XJ the other a 97 TJ both around 135-140K miles

I have an AX 15 in my 97 that was rebuilt once, and again (in my case) 2nd is giving me fits; sometimes it grinds going in when upshifting from 1st but NEVER, if I downshift from 3rd.

my 94 Dakota has a goofy gauge as well thats why they put trip meters in to serve as a redundant gas gauge.
