I run all time with no windows on my ’79 CJ7. I have not noticed any issues on the top. I run that way year round here in CA.

A bad throwout bearing will only maker noise when you are depressing the clutch. If you have the noise with the clutch out, then it’s not the throwout bearing, unless what you hear is a rattling which could be the throwout bearing vibrating off the pressure plate which is no big deal. All...

I’d say she was late thirties, blonde and wearing sun glasses. I was just impressed that acknowledged a 30 year old CJ7. I’ve waved at a lot of Jeeps since then and 95% ignore me. The wave is disappearing as quickly as my 401K. :(

My '79 CJ7.......................

I normally don’t either, but today a woman in a new JK waved at me and I was shocked. I waved back of course and thought that was pretty cool. Most women don’t even look at me in my CJ.

I get about 16 mpg on my '79 CJ7. The new JK's get about 17. Things haven't changed much in 30 years.

I drive a ’79 CJ7 and I wave at everyone, but most TJ owners with a stock setup don’t even look at me. I usually only get a wave back from a lifted Jeep. I don’t think a lot of new TJ owners know about The Wave.

If you are looking for smog parts, J&W Auto wreckers in Antelope has everything you’ll need used. I had the same issues with my ’79 CJ7. All emission controls on my CJ had been stripped off. Had to replace everything. J&W sells all the parts as a kit for $800 or you get just those parts...
