    Engine swap in 1989 YJ

We put a 2004 Wrangler 4.0 in our 1989 Wrangler. We also changed over from a standard shift 5 speed to the '04's automatic trans & transfer case. There's quite a bit to it to make it happen - not rocket science but quite a few things to address. I don't think that you can just swing the 4.2 head...

    horable body work

Now come-on the guy is obviously a carpenter or a camper etc......... Just think, if he ever got stuck out in the cold and had to survive ----- He's got his fire to keep warm right with him! You on the other hand would run out of gas and freeze!

    reverse " BANG " sound

I vote for: Take a look at the "U" joints especially if you have raised it up or are running taller tires. These factors change the geometry & put new strains on things plus its most likely the cheapest fix!

    Tachometer / Speedometer questions?

I have a 1989 Wrangler that was a 4.2 Standard Trans which we've now installed a complete driveline from a 2004 Wrangler - 4.0 engine, Auto Trans & Transfer case. It took a million little things to acomplish this but thank God for my buddy Mike who's garage we did it at - because I could never...

I've stopped the pain & the expense!

Its been months now that I've been trying to obtain this 49.2 +/-2 (ie: 50) reading for the fuel pressure on this 2004 vintage 4.0 engine that I put into my '89 YJ. We started out with a stock '89 fuel tank that has no pump Soooooooooooooooooooooo the easy way to obtain the pressure needed by...

Will a 2000 Wrangler fuel tank go in a 1989 Wrangler?

I'm having Fuel Pressure problems with my 89 Wrangler. We installed a 2004 vintage 4.0 Complete which requires 49.2 pressure +/- 2.0 or 50 ideally. The stock 89 tank had no fuel pump so I bought and mounted a late 80's vintage Big Ford Truck (external to the tank E2000 I think) in line pump...

When I got in it to drive it to my place I couldn't help notice a whinning sound its making. My first impression is it must be low on...
