    83 CJ7 progress

I got the steering box at good ol Auto Zone. It wasn't very tough. It is an 83 so I had to use lots of liquid wrench. If I had to do it differently I'd attach the hoses prior to mounting the box back on the frame. Real tite space. The spline at the end of the steering rod was a bit boogered...

    83 CJ7 progress

No real issues just been off line for awhile and thought I'd catch up. Since my last post I've been replacing a few parts on the 83 CJ. I got the Best Top soft top and doors. Didn't think I'd like the doors but actually they're pretty good. If you order them make sure you get the correct striker...

    CJ Anti Theft Question

Ya Know.....after some reading what I'm seeing is "just make it less easy to steal than the car next to you". So I'm going the basic route. First I paint my Jack Russel brown and black and tie him to the seat...He'll double as the motion detector too. Then I'll go down to Auto Zone, buy a...

    CJ Anti Theft Question

I'm looking for recommendations on anti theft devices for my 83 CJ7. Once the crook gets inside the soft top with a razor knife what's the best way to keep him from taking off with the whole jeep?

    Coffee Dilema

I had the same problem so I picked this one up for my CJ from Morris 4x4.. I find it very handy but I wouldn't depend on it being secure. The lock is just an afterthought but it has cupholders in the front and back. And a big main storage compartment and a 'sunglass' cubby and coin storage in...

    Robo Shredder

Truly Amazing...If they could only hook it up to the bumper of my jeep I'd take care of this lousy L.A. traffic.:x Watch it Shred!: "The Monster"

Info on Heater hose routing for CJ?

Thanks for the tips. What I found was that my bro-in-law had taken the heater core out of the loop by joining the hose from the water pump to the hose from the back side of the intake manifold (next to the fire wall). Since the hoses were still in good shape I re-routed them to the top/bottom...

Exhausted CJ-7 - Stupid Question of the Week

I just got mine (83 CJ) smogged here in CA just a week ago. Yeah...it's a crock!! Part of the routine was that they pressure tested the fuel system. Including the fuel cap. If your system cannot hold adequate pressure they assume you are leaking it out to the environment. I had already...

Info on Heater hose routing for CJ?

Hi; When I got my 83 CJ7 the heater hoses were disconnected. My sis said that her husband disconnected all the hoses when the heater core died. I just replaced the core but I don't know how to route the heater hoses. I'm guessing I gotta get them to and from the water pump and the intake...

Hi from the Southern California Desert

Hi All; Here's one pic of Sis's Jeep. I hope it attaches properly. More to come as I get her trail ready ;) If you notice the plate it's her first and middle name. Anyway... I just installed a new stereo and speakers. I went to best buy and actually found speakers that would fit behind...

Hi from the Southern California Desert

New member here. My ride is an 83 Jeep CJ7 that my twin sister bought new and was eventually given to me a couple of years ago after she died of breast cancer. Bout 115K on it and is in really good shape with a fairly new 4.2 in it since the first one burned up :bomb: . It's 100% stock 'cept for...
