Do you live in a high altitude region? The Motorcraft 2150 is the high altitude version of the 2100. I have one 2100 for a manual Jeep. It may need rebuilt. I swithed to a 4- barrel. What's on your Jeep now? Are you trying to do a factory restoration? I also have a factory Jeep padded roll bar...

    Steering shaft replacement

I went with a Borgeson unit. I think it is of good quality and it is easier to remove and re-connect than my old stock unit. This is important when you have to put on header gaskets all the time! There is more to the steering system than this piece. I'm experiencing loose steering still. The...

Need New JEEPIN buddies Located in NC!

There are plenty of Jeepers around NC. There is a 4 wheel drive shop in Wilson that developed a trick Dana 300 set-up that was featured in JP Magazine. You can take your Jeep to the Outer Banks and ride on the beach. There are a couple of National Forests that offer trails. I know of two four...

    CJ Steering Adventures

The axles are stock. Years ago I installed a pair of degree shims in the front after putting on a set of Dessert Steel shackles(lift @1-1.5"). At that time I ran a manual steering box. I wore out one manual box before my Jeep rebuild. At rebuild time I went to power steering and removed the...

    Questions about a body lift

I installed the Daystar kit on my CJ-7. It gives you all of a 1 inch lift, maybe more. I did not have to cut the body around the transfer case shifter. I did not lower the transfer case either. I do not have a fan shroud to mess with. You probably will have to modify the clutch linkage rod. And...

    CJ Steering Adventures

I'm 95% finished with my '80 CJ-7 and am finally on the road some. But my steering seems too loose and it is down right scary on the highway! I know CJ's are not known for their highway manners but mine seems down right dangerous. My Jeep has a power steering unit from a '79 CJ. I have a Borgson...

carb problem seems to have returned

1064814 While spraying your carb. cleaner listen for changes in RPM. Use ether or WD-40 and spray around the base and throttle shafts. These shafts can wear and cause vacuam leaks! Cheaply rebuilt carbs. do not replace these. Or it could be hoses or lines. And there's a lot of them! :-) [addsig]

    TUB ROT!

1058250 Take lots of pictures! Draw diagrams and label parts and wires! I had my whole Jeep apart with all the parts in zip lock bags in my house! You will think you can remember where everything goes, but it's hard. You will hit snags in your project that will make it take longer. This is...

    Stinking Electrical

1055226 rrr.rrrr.rrr.dead! I'm not sure I'm following you. Is it turning over at all? Are you saying it's not a battery/charging problem? My Jeep has a factory tach., and one time the thing went bad and the Jeep would die. It would do this going down the highway and at idle. I by passed the...

    Exhaust on fire! Intake/carb. problems?

1048855 Still trying to solve my problems. May be a bad seal at carb. base! Parts guy gsold me a Edelbrock carb. base plate. I also got another new gasket. This plate is a thin metal plate. My carb. came with a (riser?) about 1/4 " thick. This is made of a hardened card board type material. Do...

    My Jeep is blowing chunks

1051650 Give it a try! Is your emissions test a visual or tailpipe sniff or both? My old CJ had headers and dual exhaust with no cats and I could pass the "sniffer". But you need to be well tuned. Set carb to "lean best idle", change your oil, have fresh gas, and get it tested when it's warm...

    360???

1051654 Do you have a metal tag on the valve cover? I know if they are chrome add ons the chances are slim. Those numbers tell you everything about your motors size, build date, etc. AMC put the 360 in Wagoneers, Cherokees, and trucks. It's a drop in motor for a CJ with no bellhousing...

    What fits what??? engine swap

1051658 Are you saying the cost is too high for a CHevy V-8 or an AMC V-8? I would think an AMC V-8 block engine would not be much more than a 258. I've had both and the V-8 did just as well on fuel mileage. AMC changed some things on '81 and newer 258's. 1981 started the plastic valve cover...

    My Jeep is blowing chunks

1051728 Around here the joke is usually on me! Try the "emissions passer" in a bottle in addition to the other things. It's sold at Pep Boys etc. It helps! Your close! I think you can get by.[addsig]

    good book

1052586 Look for the factory service manual (not the owner's manual) for your rig. I got mine from Leon Rosser several years back. It's complete! They may still have them for your Jeep![addsig]

Headers still glow!! See prev. intake woes!

1050086 Update....Progress made!! I want to thank everyone for the commenys and suggestions. I finally made some headway. Disconnected the exhaust in back of the in-frame headers. Started and run the Jeep in the driveway. NO ORANGE HEADERS!! Today I removed the dual exhaust system. It was not...

Headers still glow!! See prev. intake woes!

1050441 Back again....I can't believe it but the headers are turning orange again! Last time it seemed fine with the exhaust disconnected. Tonight it turned orange again! By the way I took the exhaust to the muffler shop on the way home. Cut out the cats to check condition. They were fine. I...
