Have a 97 xj it had the 8.25 rear end I know early ones were 27 spline and later were 29 how do I know what mine is without pulling the shafts?

I had this problem on my wife's commander and the key lost it's programming for whatever reason so not sure if you have a chipped key or not but if so might try another key or have a new one cut and programmed

It is a 1997 with a 4.0 and has the 231 transfer case. It has a speedo gear on the rear housing of the tcase which is electronic, the sensor that broke is in the extension housing and from what I gather it controls shift points but I wasn't sure if it also has a part in the speedometer operation

Installed a sye kit this weekend, and now my speedo doesn't work. I managed to break my transmission. Speed sensor, which I believe is why my speedo doesn't work, but was wanting to make sure before I spent 110 on the sensor

What's a good gear set where it's still streetable? Not sure if I will run 33s. Or 35s but I still want to be able to go 60-65 without redlining

It's a 97 with auto transmission 355 gears currently has 31's but installing a 6.5 inch lift this weekend

Often when I'm wheeling I find hills that my tires don't spin but my motor Boggs down. I know lower gears will help this but and motor upgrades that help with this?

Is there a way to visually tell what rear axle I have in my xj I'm pretty sure it's a Dana 35 but wasn't for sure

Erring a 6.5 in lift but I was wanting some direction to go on tires I have Mickey Thompson Baja Mtz right now but not sure what I want after the lift is on any advice would be great

Sounds like my first step is new rear axle then. So the front should be ok unless I go bigger than 35,s is that right

Yeah I disconnect the sway bars and I knew my axles were a weak point so didn't know if I should upgrade those before I spend money on lockers? If so what is an easy axle swap for xjs

I was interested to see what direction to go on a build. What should you do first to have a good trail rig. I love my xj but when I do trail suspension is not real good such as if I get in a little trench I don't have all my wheels on the ground. But what's a good path to take in a build do you...

Yeah that was my next place to look but hope its good for a long time I just rebuilt the motor oil pump went bad and chewed my crank up and all my bearings so I had to tear it down and go through the thing

I put a map sensor in and so far so good in going to put some miles on ot this weekend so we will see

It a 97 Cherokee with the 4.0 runs good till it reaches operating temp then dies it will stay running if I idle it up but won't idle I had a known good tp sensor and it didn't work any help would be awsome thanks

Thanks for the insight got the 4x4 going the linkage was not adjusted properly still not sure how it all works I didn't see any vacuum or anything. But got my oil pan off and my rod bearings out so making progress
