Check your hub bearings.They could be worn, or the nuts could've backed off. Also, if you have manual steering, you might need to adjust any slop out of that, as well. You said that you replaced the tie rod. What about the steering link? Are the ends in good condition, or, are they worn?

Be me, I'd pull the carpets, and replace them. Also be a good opportunity to check, and / or fix any rust that might be under them.
