My dodge has rear view camera which I just replaced weeks ago with 2016-2020 Dodge Durango Rear View Camera 68367610AB | Jeeps Are Us mopar one. I'm trying to figure out if I could turn this on even when my engine is not running.

I wash it first then dry it then put some oil on it (but not so much)

I think I tried every car cover there is even the the car cover tent! I would recommend also choosing portable garage just so when you are doing some fixing it won't be that hot. But for the regular car cover, anything would be great as long as you would have the energy to put it.

You don't necessarily need to put it on the exterior. I place mine just at the back of my rear mirror. You could choose the one where you could turn it on even when the car is not just so it would still record while you are parking somewhere not safe.
