    Body Preporations. . . .

An angle grinder with a wire wheel worked great for me. My 16 year old son is going to do the inside of his tub next week. We really liked POR 15, for the $ 120 you will spend on herculiner you could probabaly do what you need. The hurculiner will not convert the rust, it will only cover it, it...

    POR 15

I had to do quite a bit of work to the tub to get it where I wanted it, I cut out rust, patched the holes, put a body filler in to smooth it all out, wire wheeled the entire inside of the tub, applied por 15, and top coated with their hard nose 2 part paint, I also did the engine compartment...

What do I check next, she won't hit a lick...

If you are getting spark, and you are getting fuel, my money says it is timing. Get the timing mark to TDC, pull the distributer cap, it must point to #1 (or #6 if it is on exhaust stroke) get it as close as you can with an eye ball and then re-time it with a gun.

    POR 15

I have just about finished painting my project CJ 7, as I said befor I had some trouble with POR 15's hard nose paint, it set very fast and bubbled in several places where I had painted the inside of the tub. I called them today and they told me my trouble was caused by high humidity. The hard...

    UPDATE

I just got through doing the POR 15 thing to my frame, engine compartment, and under body. It looks great! Your have to use a top coat on anything that will see the sun, the stuff is UV sensitive, I used their cassis coat. I did have some trouble yesterday with their hardnose paint, it bubbled...

    RE 4.5 more like 7.5

My axel is stamped with a single B, 3.31's. I think I will have to run bigger tires, That Rubicon Express 4.5 inch lift sits 3 inches higher than the SkyJacker 4 inch lift on my sons. I called RE, they said it might settle a half inch or so but no more. My 31 inch tires look like those donut...

    jeep engine swap

Speaking for myself, I like the 258, it has tons of usable torq, is very dependable, and gets pretty good gas mileage which means better range. I would drop a rebuilt 258 with a mild cam rather than fool with the head ache of adaptors wiring and all that with going to a V8. my 2 cents! Shawn...

    RE 4.5 more like 7.5

Johnny, The SkyJacker settled about 1 inch (looks confusing in my post cause of question 2). My jeep is running a 258, I plan to drive it alot, not every day. I believe my gearing is 3.3 to 1. I want to change gearing eventually but I have sunk alot into this beast in the last 6 weeks, my wife...

    RE 4.5 more like 7.5

massachusetts off-road trip Me and the boy installed a Rubicon Express 4.5 (domestic) on my 84 CJ 7 last night, Woa! it's up there! We put a 4 inch Sky Jacker on his (boy) 83 CJ 7 about 7 months ago and was not and is not nearly as tall (same size tires). I have a few questions for the board...

    New to the board

Hey All, I am new to the board, I got hooked on CJs about 8 months ago. I used to be and old bronco guy but when I got an 83 CJ 7 for my 16 year old boy we both got hooked, and BAD. We worked his over pretty good, got it running like a top, looks great too. Well he woulden't stop driving his...

    Popping out of second gear

I had that problem after installing lift, T-case lowering kit, and new shifter boot. I ended up buying another boot just like the one on t-case shifter, it is bigger and softer, I spun it around and screwed it in and it looks great. I also had to trim the back of the metal cover over the...

    Disassembally of 63 cj-5

I chose to do the POR-15 stuff on frame, engine compartment and tub. They say the stuff is really tuff, we will see. The POR-5 is supposed to kill the rust, I worried about moisture and rust under the Rino lining. Good Luck!
