Oil Lines on a flathead CJ 3A

IIRC the input comes from the back of the block and the output goes into the timing cover. Have fun with the flatty and pm with any other early question. Fairly familiar with these.

    Engine Upgrade?

What Year If you want a V8, swap in a V8. this is your jeep not someone elses. the final decision is yours, but I will throw in my $.02 since you asked for it. there are pros and cons to both motors. The mopar is a stout motor, I have a 360 in a 95 3/4 ton 4X4 ram. It gets between 14-16...

    Rockport Offroad Park, IL

Yep finally met them. Look forward to meeting you and doing some good wheeling. Now we have to see if Elkman can get a jeep together since he talked me into going. :P

    Ignition Modules!!!!! UGH

Pic's of LED's installed I was just trying to get as much info out there to help anyone that was having problems with their ignition. I myself have removed the ballast resistor from the ignition system of my jeep, points ignition. I don't mind changing points or replacing coils for the extra...

    Ignition Modules!!!!! UGH

I was not saying that ballast resistors were not ceramic, just that a ceramic style resistor doesn't have the surface area to disipate the heat like a ballast resistor does. If you have resistors wired in series between the ignition module and coil you do not have 12 volts at the coil. The...

    Ignition Modules!!!!! UGH

A ballast resistor is not used with motorcrap ignition. You have to buy one from another application. The Jeep used a resistor wire. It runs runs all over the Jeep between the brain box and coil. When you bypass this wire you need to install a ballast resistor to limit running voltge to...

    Ignition Modules!!!!! UGH

Finally got a Hi-Lift...Well sort of... Get one from a mid 70's dodge. I know that a 76 w-200 4x4 360 auto has one. you can use this when the guy behind the parts counter wants to know what vehicle.

    funky gauges

The new speedometers work on an electronic pickup that triggers everytime the trigger point on the output shat passes it. Then the computer converts the output rpm to milage after figuring in tire size and gear ratio. Lots of resistors, just not that simple. As to the fuel gauge, that problem...

    Ignition Modules!!!!! UGH

Yes you should only have 9 volts to the coil. If you do not have a resistor between the coil and the ignition module you are drawing to much current through the brain box and are causing a failure. Nothing against whoever said to get resistors from Radio Shack, but you should really get a...

    Electric fan question

The stock fan is fine, the change is so you can turn off the fan while doing water crossing, but it also frees up HP because the motor is not having to move the air. It also takes care of having the fan off center of the radiator after doing a body lift. Just remember you should upgrade your...

    Electric fan question

O Well If you use a double throw relay you can set the slow speed to run anytime the motor is running and set the high speed to come on at a certain temp. This would also require a second relay to supply switchable power to the slow/fast relay. As for fuse size check with the ford dealership...

    Broke my Window......

I have pulled a few old ones out, but have never put one back in. You would definately have ot do it inside where it is warm or the gasket will be to stiff to manipulate to get the winshield in. Normally a good glass shop will jack up the price so when you put it on your insurance they will do...

    I know it's nuts but, how do I lift a pop-up trailer

The pop-up trailer frame it stouter than you think. We had a tree fall through one of our trailers and it didn't bother the frame. It is now a travel trailer that has covered a lot of miles. They offer weld in spindles to make a new axle with the same bolt pattern as the YJ. You can build a...

CJ won't start after tub swap.

Terry Putting 12 volts to the coil for an extended period of time may have wasted the coil. Toss in a cheap factory style coil to see if it helps. Another part to help test things, harbor freight sells a tool that could be of use. it is a spark tester. You plug it on the plug then plug the...

    Intermittent No Start

It sounds like you may have corrosion in the bulk head connector. Unplug it and spray it down with a good electrical contact cleaner. It you have a bad connection there it could cause the symptoms that you are describing.

    Intermittent No Start

Dad just had that problem with his 7. Try shooting spray lube down the key hole. Do you only not get crank or do you have no power when turning the switch to run? If it only wont crank you can install a pushbutton switch that sends 12 v to the start terminal on the soliniod to get it to crank.

    curiosity

Last 2wd cherokee I saw had a tube front axle with the same suspension as the 4x4. it even looked like they used the same knuckle with plugs where the axle shaft would come through.

    Tire load/pressure charts

Here is a link to a.pdf file I found on goodyear's website that lists weight ratings at certain tire pressures for diferent tire sizes. http://www.goodyear.com/truck/pdf/databook/5113_Lsec_V.pdf for light truck tires http://www.goodyear.com/truck/pdf/LoadInflPass.pdf For p-metric tires on...
