Installing 4.5" Zone lift on '98 XJ - Anything I should know beforehand?

So as I've posted on the site many, many times I own an '06 TJ that is currently running a 4" suspension/1.25" body lift and too many odds and ends and different components for me to bother going into here. Suffice it to say, it's kind of a piecemeal suspension but it turned out great and works...

    TJ steering stabilizer question

So as most of you know I have an '06 TJ. I've got a fair amount of suspension modifications and have upgraded the tie rod and steering stabilizer. Having said that, this morning I was walking the dog and saw a TJ Rubicon sitting in the parking lot. As I was checking it out I saw that it didn't...

Got to break in the 35s today.

Had my first wheelin' trip on the 35's today. I went up with a friend to a spot in southeast York County, PA called "Trails Road". It's technically a public road that is in extreme disrepair. You start out turning off the pavement between a couple houses (one of which belongs to an older...

    Junkyard front D44 for TJ?

Not counting a TJ Rubicon (which I don't even know if it's very likely to find that in a junkyard), what would be a good candidate vehicle to grab a front D44 for my TJ?? I'm looking for minimal modifications to make it fit...what options are out there?

    Driveshaft slip yoke boot

I was greasing my TJ this morning and discovered that the slip yoke boot on my front driveshaft has been ripped in half. This brings up two questions: 1) How do you replace it? 2) Is it necessary to replace it? It looks like the only way to replace it would be to remove the driveshaft so that...

    '06 TJ 4.0L CEL Question

My '06 TJ (4.0L) regularly pops a CEL everytime I go wheeling. Usually it goes off a couple days later and doesn't come back until I go wheeling again. This last time I went to Rausch, it came on in the middle of the day and a couple days later it went off. It stayed off for a day or two but...

    Tire Questions

So as I've posted before, I'm running 32" BFG Mud Terrain KMs (the old style) on my TJ. A couple weeks ago I awoke to find my Jeep listing to the side. The front driver's tire was flat. I found a small cut on the sidewall (I'm guesstimating it to be about 1/4 to 1/2" long at the most.). Here's...

Today was a special day (Tie Rod ?)

So today was a very special day for me. I pretzeled my first tie rod at Rausch Creek 8). I went up with Mount Zion Offroad again for their monthly ride and we did almost all black and blue-black trails. Specifically, if anyone is familiar with the park, we did Trail 22 in the morning (had an XJ...

    Rausch Creek Trip

I made a trip up to Rausch Creek today with the guys from Mt. Zion Offroad. Had a fun time. My group started out doing greens/blues but by the end of the day we were bypassing all the greens and doing strictly blues and a few blacks. Had a lot of fun. The new suspension works great! Lots of...

    Uh Oh... (t-case/SYE)

So I finally got around to re-installing my Rusty's engine/oil pan skid that I pulled off at Christmas when I discovered that it interfered with my front driveshaft when the front axle droops offroad after installing my 4" lift. I notched it to clear the driveshaft but hadn't gotten around to...

    Rear spring not seated correctly?

I was looking at my TJ earlier and I noticed that the passenger side rear spring doesn't seem to be centered in the cup at the top. It looks like it's not seated properly. The drivers side looks ok. Is this normal or should I be concerned about this? Here's the best picture I have of it right now.

    Worth every penny

I've mentioned it before, but I live in the northern suburbs of Baltimore, MD. As most of you (in the U.S.) probably know, we had a major winter storm on the east coast yesterday. Here, on Tuesday the news said we wouldn't get any snow until last night, and they were predicting 1-3". I woke...

    Jeepz + Dogz

I've read a couple threads on here talking about "Jeep Dogs" and I had a question - my wife and I recently adopted a dog from the humane society and I'm just wondering if those of you who wheel with dogs could let me know what your preferred method of restraining the dog is? She loves to ride...

    Rock-It Intake

Just out of curiousity, on Quadratec's website they list a Rock-It Max Flow intake for '97-02 TJ's (tube and filter) for $149 and the regular hi-flow intake for the same year range for $139. They list a different tube (just the tube) for '05s for $114 and the filter would be $50-60 on top of...

Do I need to be concerned about this damage?

Went wheelin' today at Green Ridge State Forest (trip report coming soon in my "builds" thread) - This is my first time wheelin' with the 4" lift and all the work I recently did to my TJ. I wanted to do a shakedown run at Green Ridge State Forest so I could work out any issues in the new...

    Swaybar disconnect question

I feel like this is a dumb question, but I was playing around with my JKS quicker disconnects on my TJ earlier, and I was wondering, is it supposed to be so hard to get them disconnected? I mean, the click pin comes out easily but I'm having a really hard time getting the link to pop off the...

    Sway bar disconnects = bad???

Just picked up the newest issue of JP and was reading through it. There is an article ("Coil Suspension Sundries") that is basically a bunch of tips for upgrading coil suspension systems (i.e. TJ's or JK's (or I guess YJ/CJ's that have been converted would also apply)). In the article it says...

How much lift on this TJ?

Hey guys, quick question. I was doing a google image search for pictures of TJ's with 4 inches of lift and I came across this photo that was posted in a thread here a couple years ago. Just wondered if anybody could give me a guesstimate as to how much lift is on this thing. I'm thinking this...
