    CJ ignition upgrade

I have a 75 cj-5 with the 304. It came with a prestolite ignition. I upgraded it to the team rush, which uses the following parts: 79 AMC distributer from a 304 88 ford cap, cap adapter, rotor, wires 79 GM ignition module. See picture (copied from teamrush.com) Originally, I used the...

    NO power!!

I think vacuum leak. one trick is to get a can of starter fluid and spray around the vacuum hoses and connections. If the idle surges, you have found the leak. Careful not to spray it on the hot exhaust. If there is a whistle, it may be very easy to find.

thoughts on a CJ that is entirely herculined

If you read the instructions with Herc., it doesn't stick to paint well. You have to completely sand and prep whatever you put it on. So I guess it all boils down to how to how well he prepared the Jeep for the Herc. I would be very wary of buying this Jeep and having it all start to peel...

I tore down my 75 Renegade and took pictures so that I would not have your problem putting it back together. The ignition module on the fenderwell has several wires, and I took pics for when I put it back together. If you PM me your email address, I will send them to you. I notice you posted...

1984 CJ TAC System (air cleaner body n cover)

Maybe I'm missing something, but couldn't you repair the one you have? Bead blast it, paint it, fix the small hole with some putty? I may have my original from my 1975 CJ5 with 304 and 2100 carb, but it probably would not be better than yours. A pic of my engine with it on can be found here...

1st Time Owner has a Big Problem

CJ 5's are really small, you will probably never get past this completly. The CJ 7 would be better for you. If the back of your seat is touching the wheel well (like mine) then you can't move it back. A smaller steering wheel would help, but be harder to turn. If you don't have power steering...

    steering

My old CJ has some of that as well, I think it's a Jeep thing. That said, if your suspension components are excessivly worn, it will get worse, and can lead to dangerous conditions. I would check the tie rods, etc. for wear.

Is it worth it to switch a CJ7 over to electric fan?

my thoughts exactly. I have factory clutch fan and would never trade it for an electric.

    cj7 passenger side seat

my 75 was made that way to make it easier to let someone into the back seat. if the seat belt if properly mounted and worn, it would hold everything down. I actually rigged something up where I bolted the back of the seat to the floor because my wife didn't like the wiggle it had. if you want a...

Mounting elec. fan to radiator shroud

have you tried using rubber washers when mounting it to the rad.? I would think that you would want the fan as close the the rad. as possible, so a shroud mounted fan would be less efficient.

    paint on bedliner questions

Thought I would update this. I went ahead and put the plastikote in. Link on first post. It was about 45.00 at walmart. I followed the instructions and did it in one day. I did this in Aug. of 2008. It has worn well, and I like it alot. I would recommend this as a cheap alternative to the better...

    Dana 30 questions

Thx JPS4Jeep. Do I need any special tools to remove the spindle? What is the shaft that holds the U joint called? I haven't found the U Joint mentioned specifically. Could I use the same one as for the driveshaft? Actually, I have a Chilton, but it's not much help. Another question, do all...
