I need to know if there is anything you can do to unplug the catalytic converter, or do you just need to replace it ? Is there any way to check it to see if this is the problem and how much do they usually cost? Any information would be helpful, because I am not knowledgeable abouit cars at all...

yes the engine seems to rev fine but the transmission isn't letting it move.

In Drive I can get it to around 1600 and in Neutral it will rev up normal but yes it bogs down at 25-30 mph in gear. Right now a friend of mine is changing the transmissiion filter, do you think this might help ? The transmission fluid that came out is dark brown.
