2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 97,000 miles overheated for first time

So it was about 100 degrees, air running and Jeep over heated, the dealership wants to
charge us $3700 to "fix" IF.... they can find the part (solenoid for fan?) Told us to call around to
find an after market one.
Anyone have any experience with this, does this sound reasonable?

3700 for a fan relay???

When you overheated, did you crack a head or blow a head gasket? Crack a block?

Seems pricy for a fan controller.

Agreed, Jeep dealership is ridiculous found parts on Ebay for the fan $400 and Mopar for the Solenoid $94 and
know someone that will do the work $$?? but can't be anywhere near $3700.
Thanks for your input

Well it depends on what is wrong. If its just a controller . Yes too expensive. If the controller allowed the overheat, damaging the radiator, blowing out the head gasket or cracking the head. 3700 might be in the ballpark.
