1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ - Door Locks & Cylinders

Been working on replacing my Door Lock Cylinders on my 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ. I have full steel doors and a hard top. The Autopart companies, Outfitter, etc... kept trying to sell me a lock cylinder that doesn't work for my Jeep.

I finally figured out that I could use the Door Lock Cylinders & Keys part # 8122874K3 used for Jeep CJ Wrangler Cherokee XJ 84-90. I just replaced the lever on the new lock with the one that was originally in the door.

This may or may not work for your needs, but I thought I would share what I figured out!

Are you sure that you have YJ doors? I believe that you can put CJ doors on a YJ. Maybe someone swapped yours?

you can put cj doors on a yj. the pull handles are different to open the doors, is how you tell. yj have little plastic pull handles that pull horizontally and cj have a larger pull handles that pull vertically.

i also think the striker is different, if i remember right. i had some cj half doors i ran on my 87 yj and i had to do something to put the cj doors on when i took my full yj doors off. i just cannot remember what i had to do. i want to say the cj doors used a striker post and the yj used a bar but i might be mixing up the sj, yj, and tj doors on that part
