Ok, so the guy I bought my YJ from tells me it has an NP207 transfer case. I also read the they put that transfercase in 87's only. ( http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/yj.htm )

I've been under the jeep but hadn't thought to look at the tag. Well I did tonight :? . Its a np231 like the rest. What the...

Apparently it was mid-'87 when they changed it to the 231.

Good news for you! Supposedly that 207 isnt the best tcase...

NV3500 swap

Don't get me wrong, im glad its got the 231. It's just that I feel like an idiot for posting about the 207 and never even had looked at the tag.

That's what ya get when you assume.

When You assume you make a

ASS out of U and ME Get it!!

Sorry

That's ok. Don't feel bad. A guy here in Nowhere, Kansas where I live just bought a Suzuki Samurai from an individual who told him it was a CJ-7........we argued for 10 minutes the other day in front of the grocery store before I pointed out several places on the body and under the hood that said "Suzuki"......what a dolt!!!!! But ya know what? Instead of taking it back to the guy that sold it to him and kickin' some rice-burnin' buttocks, he's keepin' it and is gonna lift it!!!!! Sometimes I'm ashamed to admit I even know the guy.....

Edited to add: You'da thunk he'd notice when he filed the papers and insurance. I told ya, this guy is clueless. Too many days in the hog-pen huffin' fumes, I'm guessing.

Thats a pretty funny story. Samurai's are alright. Just not my slice of cake.

Yeah, but think about it....if the guy is dumb enough to buy a Sami thinking it's a CJ, even after all the title work, insurance, tags, etc....should he even be driving, much less wheeling?!?!?!?
