My friend recently bought a 1981 GMC 7000 series 4x4 flatbed.
It has a 366 Big Block, 5spd trans, Rockwell X-fer case & front axle, Eaton rear axle.
We're trying to identify the front axle. We searched the net & found no info.
The previous owner stated it's an old Forestry service truck.
The truck was converted to 4wd (4wd on a 7000 was not a factory option)
There's a chassis builder tag on the cab (I'm waiting for a pic of that)
Here are some pics... (I'll post better pics soon)
Not a top loader style, this is what the Rockwell tag says (the ratio is 7:17!!!...)
It has the standard Rockwell 6 lug pattern, brake drums & Selectro lock-outs.
Here's the truck, 2 stick X-fer case, the levers are on the passengers side.
Anyone know what type of Rockwell axle this is?
